The Sun travel to Detroit to finish their road trip with a game against the defending champions in the regular season finale between these two Eastern Conference rivals. The Sun had lost seven straight games against Detroit until sweeping a home-and-away weekend series against the Shock back on June 25th and 27th. In the tightly contested East, Connecticut currently sits in third place at 11-11, while Detroit is right behind with a 10-11 record. Thursday, July 22 vs. Minnesota
Minnesota comes to the Mohegan Sun Arena for the only time this season as the Sun will try and even the score with the Lynx on their season series. Back on July 14th, Minnesota held off Connecticut, 66-63 in Minnesota behind 21 points and 11 rebounds from rookie Nicole Ohlde. The Sun were led by Lindsay Whalen's career-high 18 points in her homecoming back to Minnesota. The game will be shown on ESPN2 at 8:00 pm.
Saturday, July 24 vs. San Antonio
The Sun will finish another series this week by taking on the Silver Stars in their lone trip to the Nutmeg state in this Saturday afternoon game (12 pm tip-off). Connecticut lost to San Antonio 78-67, just nine days ago on July 15th at the SBC Center. The Sun were led by Taj McWilliams- Franklin (22 points) and Nykesha Sales (19), while San Antonio had the game's high scorer, LaToya Thomas who finished with 23. The game can be seen on Oxygen. Nykesha Sales and Taj McWilliams-Franklin were named starters for the WNBA All-Star team that is going to take on the US Women's National Team in an Olympic send-off game at Radio City Music Hall in New York City on August 5th. A panel of local and national media selected the starters who will also include Phoenix Mercury guard Anna Deforge, Los Angeles Sparks guard Nikki Teasley, and Detroit Shock forward Cheryl Ford to represent the WNBA. Detroit Head Coach Bill Laimbeer and his assistants will serve as the coaching staff for the WNBA All-Star Team. There will be six more players added before the game on the 5th. This will be the sixth All-Star appearance for Sales and the fourth time for McWilliams-Franklin.
Golden Gopher Goes Home
Former Minnesota star Lindsay Whalen returned to her home state for the only time this season and a record crowd came out to see her play. Whalen did not disappoint the fans who saw her record her career-high scoring 18 points, with a number of them coming on spectacular moves to the basket. There were 16,227 people in attendance for the game, which is the biggest crowd in the history of the Lynx surpassing the previous high of 14,171 set on August 20, 1999, ironically against the Orlando Miracle.

Read to Achieve - On Monday, July 26th Connecticut Sun players to participate in story time at the Waterford library at 3 pm to read to a group of children in conjunction with the Read to Achieve program that the WNBA has undertaken throughout the year.
NBA Jam Van – Connecticut Sun players will be on hand to meet and greet fans at the NBA Jam Van, which will take place at the Nutmeg Games in Hartford on August 1, 2004. The players will also be singing autographs at the event.
