Edmonton, July 12, 2004 – The Edmonton Aviators Men (2W-6D-6L) play their fifteenth game of the season, and sixth home game, on July 13th (6pm MST) against the Vancouver Whitecaps Men (9W-2D-5L) at Commonwealth Stadium.

Vancouver finished the 2003 regular season in second place in the Pacific Division and tied for fifth place overall in the A-League. The Whitecaps finished with 52 points from 28 games played, scoring 45 goals and conceding 24.

The Whitecaps were eliminated from the 2003 playoffs in the first round by the Seattle Sounders.

Goalkeeper Mike Franks finished the 2003 regular season with the third best goals against average in the A-League at 0.767. This season, Franks' goals against average is at 1.15 in seven games played.

VancouverÂ’s other goalkeeper, Alexandre Marques, has played 10 games and has a goals against average of 0.81.

In 2003, forward Jason Jordan led the Whitecaps in points with 25 points in 24 games played, good for eighth place in the A-League. Oliver Heald was next with 21 points in 25 games played.

This season, David Xausa leads the Whitecaps in goals, assists, and points. In fifteen games played, Xausa has scored four goals, one assist, and 9 points. Oliver Heald has scored three goals and two assist in 12 games played. Carlo Corazzin has contributed with three goals and one assist.

Vancouver currently sits first in the Western Conference with 29 points from 16 games played (as of July 11).

The Edmonton Aviators Men have played 9 road games and 5 home games so far this season. On the road, the team has 1 win, 4 ties, and 4 losses. At home the team has 1 win, 2 ties, and 2 losses.

This is the fourth and final meeting between the teams this year. The first meeting ended in a 0-0 draw as both teams opened their season at Swanguard Stadium on April 30th. The Whitecaps won the June 21st match in Edmonton by a score of 1-0. The Aviators bounced back with a 3-2 win in Vancouver on July 4th.
