Ams Pick in Import Draft

Kennewick, WA – Tri-City Americans today selected Right Wing, Juraj Gracik, 18, 6-3, 190 from Topolocany, Slovakia in the Canadian Hockey League Import Player Draft.

The 6-3 Gracik was drafted by the Atlanta Thrashers is this years NHL Draft in the fifth round, selection number 142.

"We are excited about the opportunity of having Juraj join our team", stated Ams Vice President/General Manager Bob Tory. "I was able to see Juraj play at the Viking Cup in Camrose, Alberta at Christmas and he impressed me with his work ethic and skill. He will be a welcome addition to our team."

Has a nose for the net, with a quick wrist shot and a hard shot. Juraj has great strength in front of the net and in the corners. Good work ethic. Another power forward, with a combination of size, grit and skill. A good skater as well as a solid two-way player. Goal scorer. Likes to shoot. Willing to pay the price to score.

Tall, lanky winger has a live, athletic body that he uses well to shield the puck. Good stickhandler with quick hands, good vision, and a deft passing touch. Comes out of the corners and makes plays with the puck. Strong and tenacious in puck pursuit. Creates tons of chances off a relentless fore check.

A speedy winger who moves well for his size. An offensive player with a good scoring touch. Good overall skill. A strong player with soft hands. Excellent puck control. Likes to go to the net.
