Ian Keserich drafted by Colorado Avalanche

The Cleveland Barons have gained a reputation in its 11 year history, for developing players for NCAA schools and the NHL. Goaltender Ian Keserich has continued that tradition by being drafted in the 7th round by the Colorado Avalanche.

Keserich, the 6'3" 180lb goalie from Parma, OH , last season played in 34 games, having 18-3-3 with a .898 save pct. and posting a 3.22 goals against average. Keserich was a member of the 2003 under-18 world championship team that captured the gold medal last August in the Czech Republic. Keserich was named the most valuable goalie for the tournament. Keserich has played at every level in the Barons youth program, in 1998 he was the winning won the pee-wee national title for the Barons.

Barons Head Coach/GM Tim Alexander had this to say: " In the 11 years in the NAHL, Ian is by far the quickest and most athletic goalie that i have seen. I am sure that Ian wil be a quality player for The Ohio State University and eventually the Colorado Avalanche organization. The whole Barons organizition wishes Ian the best in his hockey career., I have no doubt he will make our organization proud."

Keserich joins the following Barons that were drafted or played in the NHL: Mike Jones (Tampa Bay), Bobby Andrews (NYR), Chris Bogas (TOR), Erik Kaminski (OTT), Ben Simon (ATL), Mike Rupp (NYI/NJ), Colin Shields (PHL), Jim Slater ( ATL), Jay Vancik (STL),and Dan Fritsche (Columbus).
