New Hampshire Fisher Cats News Release

Binghamton, NY - The Binghamton Mets exploded for five runs in the seventh inning to down the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 7-5, Friday night at NYSEG Stadium in Binghamton, NY. The win gives Binghamton (26-16) a two-game lead in the Eastern League Northern Division over New Hampshire (23-17), with two games remaining in this key weekend series.

The Mets erased a 5-2 deficit in the bottom of the 7th inning when they parlayed two hits, three errors, a wild pitch and a passed ball into a five-run frame. The Fisher Cats committed two errors on one play when Binghamton designated hitter Ron Acuna's ground ball off Brandon League to first baseman Matt Logan was mishandled. Second baseman Dominic Rich, backing up the play, rushed his throw to first base, which ended up going wild, allowing Acuna to take second.

Following shortstop Chase Lambin's single and a walk to shortstop Gil Velazquez, League was replaced by righthander, Dan Jackson (2-5). Centerfielder Wayne Lydon bunted, but Jackson committed a two-base error when his throw to first base ended up in right field. Jackson would also uncork a wild pitch and catcher Vic Valencia was charged with a passed ball in the inning.

New Hampshire scored three times in the top of the 7th inning to take a 5-2 lead. Rightfielder Justin Singleton led off with a triple, leftfielder Tyrell Godwin walked, and third baseman Danny Solano singled in Singleton. Rich hit a routine ground ball to second base that became an error when Velazquez dropped the throw from second baseman Chase Lambin. Godwin scored on the error, and then designated hitter John-Ford Griffin's ground out scored Rich.

Righthanded reliever Tim Lavigne (2-4) worked two and two-thirds innings to record the win. Rightander Jeremy Hill finished off the Fisher Cats in the ninth for his seventh save. Jackson was the loser, despite not allowing an earned run.

The Fisher Cats send lefthander Derek Lee (1-3) to the mound tomorrow night against Binghamton righthander Wayne Ough (1-1). Gametime is 6pm. The game can be heard on the Fisher Cats Radio Network starting at 5:30pm.
