12 Days and Counting, Wizards Expecting Large Crowd After Surpassing 11,000 Presold For Home Opener

The Wizards will open their 2004 MLS season at home on Saturday, April 3rd and ticket sales are going briskly. Kansas City will host the defending Eastern Conference Champion Chicago Fire at Arrowhead Stadium at 7:30 p.m. CT. With just under two weeks until the season opener, the Wizards have surpassed the 11,000 mark in pre-sold tickets. Last season, the Wizards set a franchise record with a crowd of 22,403 at the 2003 season opener.

Individual game tickets are available through Ticketmaster by calling 816-931-3330 or online at www.ticketmaster.com. Fans are encouraged to come early to the Stadium on April 3rd as the Wizards are expecting another large crowd. The first 10,000 fans in the stadium will receive a Wizards 2004 schedule magnet, compliments of Martha Gooch Pasta.

Final Preseason Exhibition Match On Tap This Weekend in North Carolina

The Kansas City Wizards will play their final preseason exhibition match this weekend in North Carolina, the final tune-up match before the Wizards open the 2004 MLS season. On Saturday, March 27th, the Wizards will face their MLS Western Conference Rivals the Los Angeles Galaxy at 6:00 p.m. CT at SAS Soccer Park in Cary, North Carolina.

The exhibition match is part of the "1st Annual Cary Pro Kick-Off Invitational", a series of exhibitions featuring the two MLS teams, three A-League teams (Richmond Kickers, Syracuse Salty Dogs and Virginia Beach Mariners), one Pro-Select League team (Charlotte Eagles) and the University of North Carolina. The exhibitions matches will all be played at the SAS Soccer Park in Cary, NC and will take place from March 25th through March 28th.

Meet the Wizards and Watch the U.S. Take on Poland on Wednesday, March 31st

The Kansas City Wizards will host their annual "Meet the Players" party on Wednesday, March 31st at the Fox and Hound Smokehouse & Tavern in Independence. Fans can meet the 2004 Wizards players and coaches and get autographs while enjoying complimentary appetizers from the Fox and Hound. In addition, the Wizards will show a tape-delayed broadcast of the U.S. National Team's friendly match against Poland.

The party will start at 6:00 p.m. and fans are encouraged to stop by and meet the team and get autographs. An appetizer buffet will be served from 6:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. compliments of the Fox and Hound. The Fox and Hound is located at 19210-A E. 39th Street, Independence, MO 64108 (directly in front of the AMC Independence Commons 20 movie theatre). Fans are asked to please RSVP to Kim O'Dell at 816-920-4730 by Friday, March 26th.

Stephen Armstrong to Attend Press Conference in Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 23rd

Wizards midfielder/forward Stephen Armstrong will take part in a press conference in Edmond, Oklahoma on Tuesday, March 23rd. Armstrong will be at the University of Central Oklahoma's Wantland Stadium at 3:30 p.m. CT to promote the upcoming MLS exhibition game between the Wizards and Dallas Burn. The exhibition in Edmond will take place on Saturday, April 10th with kickoff slated for 2:00 p.m. CT.
