CBA All-League First and Second Teams Announced

March 16, 2004 - Continental Basketball Association 1 (CBA 1) News Release

Boise, ID (March 16, 2004) — The Continental Basketball Association announced today the CBA All-League First and Second Teams for the 2003-04 season, as selected by CBA Head Coaches. To be eligible, players must have played in 24 games (1/2 of the 48 game schedule) and be in good standing with the CBA. Coaches could not vote for their own players.

Team members are listed below in the order of votes received.

ALL-LEAGUE FIRST TEAM

JOSH DAVIS, Idaho Stampede – F, 6-8, 240 (Wyoming ’02) – Earned League Most Valuable Player and Newcomer of the Year awards…Was named Player of the Week for the week of Dec. 28 – Jan. 3 and was voted to the 2004 CBA American All-Star Team (18 points, four rebounds)…Ranked 9th in scoring (18.7 ppg), 4th in rebounding (9.6 rpg), 7th in field goal percentage (.590, 299 of 507) and 7th in three-point field goal percentage (.411, 60 of 146)…Received an NBA call-up to the Atlanta Hawks on March 9.

LEONARD WHITE, Sioux Falls Skyforce – F, 6-7, 225 (Southern ’93) – Earned back-to-back Player of the Week awards from Jan. 11 – 24…Placed second in MVP balloting…Voted to the National All-Star Team (16 points, eight rebounds)…Ranked 5th in scoring (20.2 ppg), 2nd in rebounds (10.2 rpg), 3rd in steals (2.1 spg) and 5th in blocked shots (0.9 bpg)…Grabbed a league-high nine steals against Great Lakes on Nov. 21.

ANTHONY GOLDWIRE, Yakima Sun Kings – G, 6-1, 190 (Houston ’94) – Earned Player of the Week honors for Feb. 15 – 21 when he averaged 32.5 points and 7.8 assists per game…Ranked 2nd in scoring (23.3 ppg), 5th in assists (6.0 apg), 6th in free-throw percentage (.869, 219 of 252) and 1st in three-point field goal percentage (.473, 88 of 186)…Received two call-ups to the NBA (Minnesota Timberwolves - Jan. 7, Milwaukee Bucks – Feb. 28)…Voted to the National All-Star Team (did not play due to NBA call-up).

KANIEL DICKENS, Dakota Wizards – F, 6-8, 215 (Idaho ’00) – Earned Player of the Week honors for the week of Nov. 23 – 29…Tied for 3rd in MVP balloting…Placed 2nd in Newcomer of the Year balloting…Received a call-up to the Portland Trail Blazers on Dec. 19…Ranked 8th in scoring (19.0 ppg) and 8th in free-throw percentage (.839, 115 of 137)…Voted to the National All-Star Team (18 points, three rebounds)…Was the Slam Dunk Champion during the CBA All-Star Classic.

RONNIE FIELDS, Rockford Lightning – G, 6-4, 205 (Farragut HS, IL ’96) – Earned Player of the Week honors for the week of Jan. 4 –10…Voted to the National All-Star Team (DNP – injury)…Led the league in scoring and steals for the second straight season (24.9 ppg and 3.2 spg), becoming the first player since Anchorage’s Ron Davis (1981-82, 1982-83) to win the scoring title in back-to-back seasons…Became the Lightning’s All-Time leading scorer with 3,210 points…Posted 41 points against Dakota on Feb. 24.

ALL-LEAGUE SECOND TEAM

DeSEAN HADLEY, Idaho Stampede – G, 6-4, 205 (Eastern Michigan ’01) –Named the Defensive Player of the Year and to the All-Defensive Team…Earned Player of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 8 – 14…Ranked 10th in scoring (17.7 ppg) and 6th in three-point field goal percentage (.415, 80 of 193)…Voted to the American All-Star Team (seven points, seven rebounds).

DAVID JACKSON, Sioux Falls Skyforce – G, 6-4, 215 –(Oregon ’01) – Voted to the National All-Star Team (12 points, three rebounds)…Placed 2nd in Newcomer of the Year balloting…Ranked 6th in scoring (19.5 ppg), 2nd in free-throw percentage (.896, 95 of 106) and 2nd in three-point field goal percentage (.447, 135 of 302)…Posted a team-high 41 points against Dakota on Feb. 19.

JEMEIL RICH, Gary Steelheads – G, 5-10, 170 (Southern Methodist ’97) – Named to the All-Defensive Team…Earned Player of the Week honors for Feb. 29 – March 7… Voted to the American All-Star Team (eight points, 11 assists)…Led the league in assists (10.6 apg), and ranked 16th in scoring (15.5 ppg) and 2nd in steals (2.7 spg)…Posted a league-high 23 assists against Sioux Falls on March 2…Grabbed a team-high seven steals against Dakota on January 23.

MAURICE CARTER, Dakota Wizards – G, 6-5, 210 (Louisiana State ’99) – Ranked 7th in scoring (19.0 ppg)…Voted to the National All-Star Team (10 points, three rebounds)…Posted a league-high 44 points against Idaho on Jan. 27…Received a call-up to the Los Angeles Lakers on Jan. 30.

RANDY LIVINGSTON, Idaho Stampede – G, 6-4, 200 (Louisiana State ’96) – Earned Player of the Week honors for the week of Feb. 1 – 7…Ranked 2nd in assists (9.5 apg), 4th in steals (2.0 spg) and 4th in free-throw percentage (.881, 96 of 109)…Posted a team-high and franchise record 22 assists against Yakima on Feb. 4…Tied for 3rd in MVP balloting.
