Texas Wildcatters News Release

Peoria, IL (January 22, 2004) – John Snowden was an offensive leader for the Western Conference at the 2004 Par-A-Dice ECHL All-Star Game, scoring a goal and picking up an assist. The Eastern Conference collected four unanswered tallies in the third period to come back from a three-goal deficit and beat the Western Conference 7-6 on Wednesday before 7,242 at Carver Arena.

Peoria left wing and Eastern Conference Captain Randy Rowe netted the game winner at 11:18 of the third period. Florida's Brian McCullough, who was stationed behind the goal, found Rowe streaking through the slot. Rowe quickly lifted the puck over Idaho's Dan Ellis for his second tally of the game. Wheeling's Jason Jaffray also registered an assist on the goal.

Rowe was the game's only two-goal scorer as he collected three points in the game and earned MVP honors in front of his hometown fans.

Rowe opened the scoring 43 seconds into the game, the fastest goal in ECHL All-Star Game history. Rowe shoveled a rebound in after McCullough was stopped by Cloutier. Jaffray also picked up an assist on the goal.

The Western Conference knotted the game 1-1 at 3:31 of the first period. Idaho's David Cornacchia rifled a shot from the high slot that Mississippi's Steffon Walby tipped past Stirling. Mississippi's Brent Gauvreau also recorded an assist on the goal.

Texas' John Snowden scored from an unbelievable angle for a 3-1 advantage at 15:59 of the first. After taking a pass from Long Beach's Nick Ganga, Snowden - behind the end redline to the right side of the Eastern Conference net - flipped the puck off the back of Stirling's leg and into the goal.

The Western Conference grabbed its three-goal lead back at 7:59 of the second period. Las Vegas' Dave Cousineau rocketed shot past Campbell from the right face-off circle after taking a pass from Snowden. Milam also registered an assist on the goal.

Saturday: Game @ Louisiana IceGators, 7:05p.m. (1-7-0)

Round Two Tomorrow Night:

Texas and Louisiana combined for an ECHL season-high 235 penalty minutes Saturday night at Ford Arena. After the final buzzer in the IceGatorsÂ’ 4-3 win, a bench-clearing brawl broke out. The pandemonium started after Louisiana defenseman Milt Mastad speared Texas forward Tony Lawrence. Cory Morgan, one of the Wildcatters captains, immediately stuck-up for his teammate as he went toe-to-toe with Mastad. In all, six players on each team received fighting majors and game misconducts, including Wildcatters goaltender Davis Parley, who fought his Louisiana counterpart Derek Gustafson. As of 11:00 a.m., the ECHL had not levied any punishment.
