Houston Aeros News Release
Houston, TX – The American Hockey League’s Houston Aeros have recalled goalie Frederic Cloutier from the ECHL’s Louisiana IceGators, the teams announced Thursday. Cloutier is expected to join the Aeros in time for Friday’s 6:05 p.m. game in Cleveland. In a related move, the Aeros released goaltender Tyler Masters, who backed up Johan Holmqvist last night with Kyle Kettles out due to injury.
Cloutier, 22, (6/19/81) sported a 14-4-2 record, a 2.36 goals against average and a .915 save percentage in 21 games for the IceGators. He started last nightÂ’s ECHL All-Star Game, his second such appearance in his three-year career, a night after earning the Most Outstanding Goaltender award at the ECHL Skills Competition. The 6-foot, 180-pound native of Ste. Honore, Quebec, was 4-3-2 with a 2.46 goals against average in 12 appearances last season for Houston before a wrist injury ended his campaign. Cloutier is 62-18-13 with a 2.36 goals against average in his pro career. Cloutier was the 2001-02 ECHL Most Valuable Player, Rookie of the Year and Goaltender of the Year.
The Aeros return home Saturday at 7 p.m. against Syracuse for Johan Holmqvist Bobblehead Night, presented by Memorial Hermann Hospital. The Aeros will be giving away Bobbleheads to the first 3,000 fans Saturday.
