Columbus Riverdragons Acquire J. Locklier and Jeff Myers

GREENVILLE, S.C., December 14 – The Columbus Riverdragons have acquired forward/center John “J.” Locklier and point guard Jeff Myers, according to an announcement today by National Basketball Development League Director of Basketball Operations Chris Alpert and Columbus Head Coach Jeff Malone. The Riverdragons released point guard Sean Peterson and center Matt Laur.

Locklier is a 6-10, 245-pound forward who finished his collegiate career at Washington State (Â’02). He played his first two seasons at Miami, Ohio, and was a member of the Red Hawks' 1999 NCAA Tournament Sweet 16 team. He averaged 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds as a senior at Washington State. Locklier will wear jersey #24 for the Riverdragons.

Myers, an NBDL veteran from the last two seasons, is a 6-2, 196-pound guard from Drexel (Â’97). He helped lead the Greenville Groove to the 2002 NBDL Championship by playing in 56 games and averaging 10.0 points, 4.4 rebounds, 2.1 steals and 3.8 assists on the way to being named the leagueÂ’s defensive player of the year. He has averaged 9.4 points, 3.9 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 69 career NBDL games. Myers participated in NBA training camp with the Philadelphia 76ers in 2003 and will wear jersey #12 for Columbus.

Peterson, allocated to Columbus for the 2002-03 campaign, appeared in nine games, making three starts for Columbus this season. The 6-2 point guard from Georgia Southern, averaged 5.3 points and 2.1 assists per game. Last season, Peterson appeared in 43 games for the Riverdragons, averaging 4.6 points and 2.1 assists. Laur, the Riverdragons fourth round pick in the 2003 NBDL Draft, appeared in nine games for Columbus, averaging 2.7 points and 1.9 rebounds per contest.

Locklier and Myers are expected to be in uniform when the Riverdragons (2-7) play host to the Fayetteville Patriots (4-4) Monday at the Columbus Civic Center. Tip off is set or 7 p.m. ET. It will be Money Saver Monday, as all tickets for MondayÂ’s game are just $5.
