Houston Stealth News Release
The Houston Stealth will attempt to defend its 2002 Pro Cup Championship this weekend in Springfield, MA at the 2003 Pro Cup. Last season, Houston won 3 games in 3 days to claim the title. However, since the Stealth (11-9) claimed a top two regular season finish, the Stealth will receive a bye in the first round of the championship. As a result, Houston will have to win 2 games in two days to successfully defend its title.
As the number 2 seed, Houston will face the winner of the #3 (Chicago Blaze) vs. #6 (Grand Rapids Blizzard) game on Saturday, April 12, at 4pm (CDT). If Houston wins, the Stealth would advance to the championship game, which takes place Sunday, April 13, at 3pm (CDT).
The 2003 Pro Cup will be held at American International College, in Springfield, MA, Friday, April 11, through Sunday, April 13.
The entire tournament will be webcast by Sports Radio Network (www.sportsradionet.com) beginning with quarterfinal action on April 11th, the semifinals on April 12th, and the consolation and championship games on April 13th.
The Stealths roster consists of four Houston Comets players: forward Tina Thompson, forward Sheryl Swoopes, guard / forward Kelley Gibson, and center Michelle Snow. Houston is coached by John Chancellor.
