The StormÂ’s 36-13-8 record gives Toledo 80 points, which ties the Storm with the Peoria Rivermen for the top slot in the overall ECHL standings. The Storm has played two more games than the Rivermen (38-13-4 = 80).

ToledoÂ’s (.702) win percentage is the third best in the league, behind only that of the Peoria Rivermen (.727) and the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies (.709).

The StormÂ’s 36 wins is the third highest total in the league, trailing only the Peoria Rivermen (38 wins in 55 games) and the Columbia Inferno (38 in 59 games).

ToledoÂ’s 13 losses in regulation time is tied with the Peoria Rivermen for the second fewest in the league. Only the Atlantic City Boardwalk Bullies have lost less games in regulation (10) than the Storm and Rivermen.

With the home victory over the Johnstown Chiefs on Wednesday of last week (02/19), the Storm ran the teamÂ’s home winning streak to five games, dating to a 4-1 loss to Lexington at the Toledo Sports Arena on February 1.

The StormÂ’s home record of 20-2-4 = 42 gives Toledo the best home win percentage in the league at (.846). The best home win percentage in the eleven year franchise history of the Storm was established by the 1995-96 team at (.829) (27-4-4 = 58).

In WednesdayÂ’s 4-3 win over Johnstown, the StormÂ’s Jeff Mitchell scored the gameÂ’s first goal at 14:14 of the first period. The Storm also scored the gameÂ’s first goal in the 4-2 win over Johnstown on Saturday night and the 2-4 loss to Reading on Sunday afternoon. SundayÂ’s loss marked only the second time this season that the Storm scored the gameÂ’s first goal and ended up losing in regulation. Toledo is 28-2-4 when scoring first this season.

ToledoÂ’s second goal (to make the score 2-0, Toledo) in the 4-3 win on Wednesday over Johnstown was scored by Jim Brown 57 seconds into the second period. That marked BrownÂ’s third goal in five games for the Storm. Brown has now played eight games with Toledo and has picked up at least a point in six of those games. He has a total of eight points (3g-5a=8pts).

The StormÂ’s third goal on Wednesday was scored by Erik Anderson at the 14:01 mark of the second period was scored while the Storm was on the power play and made the score 3-2. That was AndersonÂ’s first goal as a member of the Storm since January 8-a span of seven games for him with the team. (He was on re-call to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League for a portion of time during that span.) That was AndersonÂ’s second power play goal of the season with the Storm, and the first one he scored for Toledo on the power play since October 19.

The StormÂ’s fourth goal last Wednesday, which was scored by Matt Ellis at the 17:37 mark of the second period to make the score 4-2, was also scored on the power play. That goal turned out to be the game winner and was the first game winning goal of Matt EllisÂ’ professional career. That was EllisÂ’ fifth power play goal of the season, tying him with the team lead in that category with Nick Parillo and Alexandre Jacques.

Doug Teskey picked up the win for the Storm last Wednesday night. That marked the first appearance for Teskey in a Storm uniform since February 1-(he was on re-call to the Grand Rapids Griffins during much of that span)-and his first win for the team since January 24. Teskey also registered the win for the Storm on Saturday night in Johnstown against the Chiefs (4-2). Teskey currently has a record of 21-6-4 with Toledo.

In FridayÂ’s 3-1 win in Wheeling over the Nailers, the Storm gave up the first goal to Wheeling and came back with three unanswered goals to win. This season the Storm has a record of 8-11-4 when giving up the first goal to the opponent.

Matt Ellis scored the first goal for the Storm on Friday night. That marked ElllisÂ’ seventh goal in his prior six games with the Storm.

In addition to his goal, Matt Ellis assisted on the other two goals scored by the Storm in the 3-1 win in Wheeling on Friday night. That marked the third time this season that Ellis has had three or more points in a single game. Ellis also picked up two assists in ToledoÂ’s 4-2 win over Johnstown on Saturday night. That marked his fifth multi-point performance in his last seven games. (Over the course of the season, Ellis has had ten multi-point games.)

Matt Ellis had a personal four game point streak (4g-4a=8pts) snapped in the StormÂ’s 4-2 loss in Reading on Sunday. In his last seven games, Ellis has scored seven goals and added five assists.

Timo Helbling scored the second goal for the Storm in FridayÂ’s 3-1 win over Wheeling. That was HelblingÂ’s first goal as a member of the Storm, and it also turned out to be the game winner. With HelblingÂ’s game winning goal, twenty-six different players have now scored at least one goal for the Storm, and seventeen different players have scored a game-winning goal.

Timo Helbling also scored the StormÂ’s second goal (to make the score 2-0 3:52 into the second period) in the 4-2 win over the Johnstown Chiefs on Saturday night.

Tim Verbeek scored a short-handed goal with 28 seconds remaining in the second period to make the score 3-1 Toledo on Friday night in Wheeling. That was VerbeekÂ’s first short-handed goal of the season, and the seventh shg scored by the Storm this year.

Mike Minard picked up the win for the Storm on Friday night, making 22 stops on 23 shots. Minard was also the goaltender in the StormÂ’s 4-2 loss in Reading on Sunday afternoon. Minard now has a record of 7-4-4 with the Storm.

FridayÂ’s game marked the tenth time this season that the Storm has held the opposition to one goal or less. The Storm has a record of 9-0-1 in those games. Overall, Toledo has a team goals against average of 2.74, which is the second best in the league.

In FridayÂ’s game, the Storm fired fifty shots on Wheeling goaltender, Tyler MacKay. That marked the third time this season that Toledo has had fifty or more shots on the opposing goaltender in a single game. The Storm averages 34.89 shots on goal per game, which is second in the league.

In FridayÂ’s game, defenseman, Grady Moore had eleven shots on goal. That established a single-game team high for the Storm this season.

Brandon Fleenor scored the StormÂ’s first goal in Johnstown on Saturday night at 9:45 of the first period while the Storm was on the power play. That was FleenorÂ’s second goal of the season and the first he scored while the Storm was on the power play. Twenty-one different players have scored at least one power play goal for the Storm this season.

Storm defenseman, Grady Moore, set up FleenorÂ’s power play goal in Johnstown with a brilliant blueline-to-blueline, tape-to-tape feed. Moore also assisted on the StormÂ’s power play goal in Reading on Sunday afternoon (to tie that game at two late in the second period). Moore has now had at least one assist in six of his last seven games (0-7a=7pts).

Wes Mason scored the third and fourth goals for the Storm on Saturday night in the 4-2 win over Johnstown. That marked the second time this season that Mason has scored two goals in a single game. (His other two-goal game was on October 26 against the Cincinnati Cyclones). MasonÂ’s first goal on Saturday night (at 5:25 of the second period to make the score 3-0, Toledo) turned out to be the game winner. Mason now has three game winning goals on the season for the Storm.

Toledo was outshot on Saturday night by the Chiefs 41-36. (The Storm was also outshot 41-35 by the Reading Royals on Sunday afternoon.) Toledo now has a record of 13-8-2 when outshot by the opponent.

Nick Parillo scored the first goal of the game (at 1:05 of the first period) in the 4-2 loss for the Storm to the Reading Royals on Sunday afternoon. For Parillo, that was his twentieth goal of the season and marked the sixth time this year he has scored the gameÂ’s first goal. Parillo is the leading scorer for the Storm with 46 points (20g-26a=46pts), placing him ninth in the rookie scoring race in the ECHL.

Dale Junkin scored a power play goal for the Storm at 19:36 of the second period to tie the game against Reading at two. That was JunkinÂ’s tenth goal of the season, and the fourth that he has scored while the team was on the power play.

The Storm entered the third period of SundayÂ’s game tied at two with the Reading Royals and ended up losing that game 4-2. That marked only the second time this season that the Storm has entered the third period tied with the opponent and ended up losing in regulation. Toledo has a record of 6-2-6 when entering the third period tied.

The 4-2 loss to the Reading Royals snapped a five game winning streak for the Storm dating to a 5-2 loss in Lexington on February 14, 2003. The Storm season long win streak for the Storm is seven games (12/14 - 12/31/03).

Over the course of the past week, the Storm scored four power play goals in twenty-one chances. The Storm has now scored a total of 56 power play goals in 332 chances, a 16.9% kill ratio-which is nineteenth in the league.

Last week, Toledo allowed five power play goals against in twenty-five chances for the opponent. The Storm has allowed at least one power play goal against in six consecutive games. Toledo has given up a total of 56 power play goals against in 340 chances for the opponents this season-an 83.1% kill ratio, which is fifth in the league.
