Madritsch Earns Monthly Honors

DURHAM, N.C. – Winnipeg left-hander Bobby Madritsch was chosen Thursday the Rawlings Northern League Central Player of the Month for August.

Madritsch, 26, posted a 4-0 record and 0.66 earned run average in six starts during the month. He threw 41 innings, allowing a meager 18 hits, four runs, three earned runs, nine walks and struck out 62. He finished the regular season with an 11-4 record and 2.30 ERA in 123 1-3 innings and got a no-decision in the Goldeyes’ 4-3 extra-inning win Wednesday in the first game of the playoffs.

Madritsch, the post-season Daktronics Northern League Central All-Star Left-Handed Pitcher, attended Point Park College in Pennsylvania. He was drafted by the Cincinnati Reds in the sixth round of the 1998 June Draft and pitched for their organization for two seasons while sitting out one year due to an injury. He was released during spring training in 2001. He played for three independent professional team in 2001: the Rio Grande Valley (Harlingen, Tex.) WhiteWings and the San Angelo (Tex.) Colts of the Texas-Louisiana League along with the Chico (Calif.) Heat of the Western League.
