Prince George Cougars News Release

PRINCE GEORGE, BC - The most anticipated golf event in Northern BC is returning to Prince George this weekend. The Prince George Cougars, the Prince George Cougars Alumni Association and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation are teaming up once again, for the seventh annual Prince George Cougars Alumni Hospital Charity Golf Tournament.

The two-day event takes place Friday, July 20th(CN Centre) and Saturday, July 21st(Prince George Golf and Curling Club). Over the past six years, the Prince George Cougars, Prince George Cougars Alumni Association and the Spirit of the North Healthcare Foundation have teamed up to raise just shy of $400,000 towards healthcare in Northern British Columbia.

Last year was a record-breaking tournament, with close to $105,000 raised, that was put towards the purchase of a suite of four 4D state of the art ECHO ultrasounds for emergency response and detection and diagnosis cardiac patients. All proceeds from this weekend's tournament will complete the Spirit of the North's Regional Cardiac Strategy for UHNBC. With a goal of $80,000, the hope is to close in on the final funding needed for this campaign and hopefully fund follow up equipment, which includes two cardiac treadmills and monitors that provide ongoing maintenance and assessment to cardiac patients pre and post any cardiac incident.

Registration for the 2018 tournament includes the following:

Friday, July 20th, at the CN Centre:

Alumni Meet & Greet (4-5 pm) Public is invited to the CN Centre from 4-5 pm for an autograph session and meet and greet with Cougars alumni, staff, Rowdy Cat and five other well-known local mascots. Once again, the Northland Auto Group is back as the tournament's title sponsor, while Ken Goss (Remax Centre City Reality), and Scotiabank return as Gold Sponsors. The Coast Inn of the North and Pomeroy Lodging are once again Silver Sponsors.
