Ottawa 67's News Release

OTTAWA, ON - The Arena at TD Place will be family-central for the 2016-17 Ontario Hockey League season. The Ottawa 67's unveiled their schedule for the upcoming season on Wednesday that will see the hockey club play 25 of their 34 home contests on Saturday and Sunday afternoons. The 67's home opener is set for Sunday, September 25th at 2:00 p.m. with the regular season campaign concluding on Sunday, March 19 on home ice against the Hamilton Bulldogs with another 2:00 p.m. puck-drop.

"We wanted to make it easier for families and 67's Prospects players to attend more games," said Jeff Hunt, the 67's Governor and OSEG Partner. "By playing more Saturdays than Friday nights, parents don't have to rush home after work and then rush back to TD Place to make it for puck drop. And getting kids to bed early is no longer an issue."

Following their September 25 home opener, the 67's will host six home games in October, four in November - including the always popular School Day game on November 16 - and five during the month of December. Ottawa will open 2017 with four home games in January followed by a busy slate of nine home fixtures in February and five in March including three games during the March Break.

"One of the advantages of our venue is its location. Lansdowne is a destination that offers something for everyone," added Hunt. "The shops, restaurants, park and vibrancy of this sports and entertainment destination allows families to not just enjoy 67's hockey, but some quality time together before or after a game."

Ottawa opens the 2016-17 season on the road September 22 against East Division rivals Peterborough - one of eight meetings on the season against the Petes. The 67's, who proved to be a solid road team in 2015-16, will play 20 road games between November (8), December (5) and January (7), but will have home ice advantage down the stretch with 16 of their final 22 games coming at home.

The 67's Prospects program will return for another season ensuring that all minor hockey players in the Ottawa region score a season ticket to watch the stars of tomorrow in action at The Arena at TD Place. Perhaps the next Tyler Toffoli, Logan Couture or Cody Ceci is already in our midst.

Further information on the 67's Prospects program is available at 67sProspects.com.

Ticket information on the 34-game home calendar will be released soon.
