51s Return To Cashman Field For Final Home Stand of '07 Season

LAS VEGAS: The Las Vegas 51s professional baseball team of the Pacific Coast League (PCL), Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will return to Cashman Field for the final home stand of the '07 season. Las Vegas will play nine games from August 22-30. The 51s will host the defending PCL and Triple-A Champions, the Tucson Sidewinders, Triple-A affiliate of the Arizona Diamondbacks, in a five-game series from Wednesday-Sunday, August 22-26. Las Vegas will then host the Tacoma Rainiers, Triple-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners, in a four-game series from Monday-Thursday, August 27-30.

The 51s, under manager Lorenzo Bundy, will conclude a nine-game road trip tonight in Portland, Ore., against the Beavers. Las Vegas has a record of 59-71 (fourth place) in the Pacific Southern Division and trail first-place Sacramento (75-55) by 16 games. Tucson has a record of 69-59 and trail the River Cats by five games.

The Las Vegas franchise reached the 300,000 mark in "home" attendance for the 25th consecutive season (1983 - 2007). In 63 dates, Las Vegas' total is 322,860 for an average of 5,125. The 51s have recorded four sellouts with a season-high crowd of 12,179 on July 3.

Dollar Hot Dog Night will be featured in the series opener on Wednesday at 7:11 p.m. Budweiser Dollar Beer Night will then be presented in game two of the series on Thursday at 7:11 p.m.

Game three of the series on Friday at 7:11 p.m. will honor one of the top players in the 25-year franchise history. John Kruk Bobblehead Night, presented by Bank of America, will be featured and the first 2,500 fans in attendance will receive a "Kruk Bobblehead" in a Las Vegas Stars uniform. Kruk played in parts of three seasons with the Stars (1984-86) and is the franchise's all-time leading hitter with a .344 average (based on a minimum of 600 at bats). He appeared in 244 career games (272-for-790) with 57 doubles, 11 triples, 18 home runs and 125 RBI. He won the 1985 PCL batting title with a .351 average (148-for-422). He was the only player to win the batting crown in franchise history until last season. In 2006, James Loney led all of minor league baseball with a .380 average.

Kruk played 10 seasons in the Major Leagues with San Diego (1986-89), Philadelphia (1989-94) and the Chicago White Sox (1995). He appeared in 1,200 career games and batted .300 (1,170-for-3,897) with 199 doubles, 100 home runs and 592 RBI. He batted a career-high .323 with the Phillies in 1992. In 1991, he established career-highs in home runs (21) and RBI (92). He was a three-time National League All-Star from 1991-93 at first base. He currently serves as an analyst for ESPN for "Baseball Tonight."

The 51s and the United Methodist Social Ministries, Las Vegas will also team together to promote a canned food drive on Friday. The 51s organization is dedicated to be a community partner and fans will have the opportunity to participate in this important cause.

Fans can bring both canned food items and all non-perishable food items (i.e., pasta) to the ball park. The non-perishable items will be collected when fans enter Cashman Field. Fans who donate the non-perishable food items will receive a raffle ticket and will have a chance to win one of five "51s Prized Packages." The 51s organization will also welcome the employees from the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority (LVCVA) to Friday's game.

Game four of the five-game series on Saturday will feature Fan Appreciation Night at 7:11 p.m. Fans will have an opportunity to win prizes and the final "Post Game Fireworks Spectacular," presented by Nationwide Insurance will be featured. The first 2,500 fans in attendance will also receive Mini-Bats, presented by Desert Buick, GMC, Pontiac.

Sunday's series finale against the Sidewinders will feature a matinee contest at 12:05 p.m.

The 51s will then host Tacoma in a four-game series from Monday-Thursday, August 27-30, all games will begin at 7:11 p.m.

The final home game of the season on Thursday, August 30 will feature Budweiser Dollar Beer Night. Andy K Bobblehead Night will also be presented. Andy is a member of the popular "KOMP 92.3 FM Morning News Team." The first 2,000 fans in attendance will receive a bobblehead.

Las Vegas will conclude the season with a four game series at Salt Lake City, Utah over Labor Day weekend. The 51s will face the Bees, Triple-A affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, from Friday-Monday, August 31 - September 3.

The PCL Playoffs will begin on Wednesday, September 5. The two rounds of playoffs will run from September 5-16. The Bricktown Showdown: the Triple-A Championship Game featuring the International League vs. the Pacific Coast League will be played on Tuesday, September 18 in Oklahoma City. The game will be nationally televised on ESPN2.

Tickets for all 51s home games can be purchased at the Cashman Field Box Office. The box office is open Monday-Friday from Noon to 4:30 p.m. Tickets can also be purchased through TicketMaster (474-4000, www.ticketmaster.com). The individual game tickets for the 72-game home season are priced at $8.00 (general admission), $9.00 (reserved), $11.00 (plaza) and $13 (field). The traditional $2.00 discount for Military personnel is offered on plaza, reserved and G.A. seats throughout the season except for the holiday fireworks shows that were featured on June 30 & July 3.
