Kalamazoo Wings News Release
KALAMAZOO, MI- Forward Danny Moynihan has been assigned to the Kalamazoo Wings by the Utica Comets, the team announced Monday.
Moynihan, 21, spent last season on assignment with the Alaska Aces, and was an immediate producer during his rookie campaign. In 71 games last season with the Aces, Moynihan scored 22 goals, and added 30 assists for a 52-point campaign, which was seventh most among all rookie skaters in the ECHL during 2016-17. He saw ice time in all situations, as the native of Boston, Massachusetts, scored two power play goals and three shorthanded goals.
A second year pro, Moynihan has been with the Utica Comets since training camp, but has not appeared in any games with the AHL club.
Prior to turning pro, Moynihan spent three seasons in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, where he appeared in 197 games with Halifax and Shawinigan, scoring 78 goals and tallying 88 assists for 166 career points. He ended up on the pro radar after back-to-back 70 point seasons in junior during the 2014-15 and 2015-16 campaigns.
Moynihan will join the Wings this week and likely make his debut with Kalamazoo on Saturday vs. Brampton at Wings Event Center.
