 Fargo Force

$26,000 Donated from March 11 Benefit Game

March 23, 2016 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Fargo Force News Release

The Fargo Force honored fallen Fargo Police Officer Jason Moszer for the "Heroes Are Never Forgotten" game on Friday, March 11 and the Fargo-Moorhead community responded greatly. The night raised just under $26,000 for the Moszer Family Benefit Fund in front of the largest crowd so far for the Force in the 2015-16 season. In a crazy coincidence, the night's sell out was the 43rd sell out in Fargo Force franchise history. Officer Moszer's call number was E143.

At the game, the team wore specialty jerseys bearing the police badge on the front with Moszer and E143 embroidered into the front crest. There were Fargo Police Department patches on the shoulders and "Heroes Are Never Forgotten" was written across the bottom of the front of the jersey. The jerseys were placed into an online auction where fans had the opportunity to place bids on their favorite players' jersey starting at puck drop and going through March 17. The online auction raised over $8,000. A team autographed specialty jersey was also auctioned off via a blind silent auction on the night of the game, which brought in $2,555 by itself.

The Fargo Force also donated $3 of every single game ticket sold back to the fund, along with holding a silent auction throughout the game and selling t-shirts, window clings and police badge keychains. The silent auction included great items donated by local sponsors and individuals. The items raising the most money were an autographed San Diego Chargers football by former Bison football standout Kyle Emanuel and a game used autographed goalie stick by former Force players Zane McIntyre and Colton Hargrove, currently playing for the Providence Bruins in the American Hockey League.

"It was an honor to help out the Moszer family," said Fargo Force president Jon Kram. "Members of the Moszer family have been season ticket holders of ours over the past couple of seasons and it was the least we could do to try to help in some fashion. Our season ticket holders are our family. We thank everyone in the community for coming out to the game to help make this night a success for the family."

The $25,895.95 donation to the Moszer Family Benefit Fund is the largest amount raised and donated for any benefit game that the Fargo Force have held in franchise history.
