2017 San Jose Giants Looking for Host Families

February 27, 2017 - California League (CalL1)
San Jose Giants News Release

San Jose, CA- In six weeks, approximately 25 San Francisco Giants minor leaguers will move to San Jose for the spring and summer to play for our team, the San Jose Giants. The Giants are offering families the opportunity to host players while they hone their baseball skills during the 140-game regular season.

As we celebrate our 30th season as an affiliate of the San Francisco Giants, the Host Family Program remains a critical part of the players' success both on and off the field. Uniting players with local families helps establish solid foundations upon which the young men can grow from. Bonds are regularly formed in which players become a part of the family. The relationships developed between the families and players are incredibly rewarding and exciting as the host families watch them advance through the organization and possibly on to the majors.

"Host families are integral to San Jose Giants players' development and maturation," said Linda Pereira, San Jose Giants Director of Player Personnel. "Players' relationships with their families continue well beyond their time in San Jose, as many remain in contact while they progress towards their goals. It is incredibly gratifying to see them grow as men, succeed and ultimately realize their dreams of playing in San Francisco."

Host families truly become a part of our team. They have unique access to many great activities including picnics, invitations to special events, and a family season pass to all San Jose Giants home games. On the last Sunday home game of the season, host families are invited to be Baseball Buddies for the day and get a chance to take the field with the players during the National Anthem.

Several players, who lived with host families while playing in San Jose, are now San Francisco Giants, including NL MVP Buster Posey and World Series MVP Madison Bumgarner. Host families also accommodated Brandon Belt, Matt Cain, Brandon Crawford, Joe Panik, Hunter Strickland, Derek Law, Mac Williamson, Jarrett Parker, Kelby Tomlinson, Christ Heston, Trevor Brown, and Josh Osich during their tenure in our town.

If you are interested in being a host family or for more information, contact Linda Pereira at (408) 380-4519 or fill out our form online at sjgiants.com.

The San Jose Giants 2017 home schedule begins Thursday, April 13, 2017 at Municipal Stadium against the Stockton Ports. Ticket packages are on sale now. For more information, visit sjgiants.com or call 408.297.1435.
