Omaha, NE, October 13, 2015 - The Omaha Beef and the Champions Indoor Football (CIF) league have released the 2016 season schedule. Key highlights to this upcoming seasons' schedule is new foes and renewed rivalries. The CIF has expanded to twelve teams this year and created two divisions, North and South. The Beef will be part of the CIF North Division in which four of the six teams are newly expanded or renewed teams.
The Beef will start the season once again by visiting their long-lived I-29 rival the Sioux City Bandits on Saturday, February 27th. The Bandits are the reigning champions of the CIF and the Beef will look to knock them off early. Two additional road games will follow against renewed rival the Bloomington Edge and newly formed Salina Liberty.
The Beef home opener will be on Friday, March 25th against the Sioux City Bandits. Unlike last season, the Beef and Bandits will each host the other just once in the regular season, making these rivalry games even more important than ever. After a bye week, the Beef will head out on the road to visit the newest member of the CIF, the expansion Illiana Eagles out of Chicago, IL. The Beef will then return home for a 5 game home stand, the longest home stretch of games in Beef history. The Beef will play Wichita, Illiana, Bloomington and Salina during the home stand. The Beef then wrap up the season with the final two road games against Illiana and Wichita.
2016 will hope to bring the return of the Beef to the playoffs, which have been missed in the past two seasons. The Beef will once again be lead by Head Coach and former Nebraska running back, Cory Ross. Ross and his team of coaches are busy recruiting this offseason to bring the best talent in arena football to the Omaha metro this season. Look for more signings in the coming days after arena football QB superstar, Joshua Floyd Jr., aka Superman, signed with the Beef last week. The Beef are slated to host the first player tryout for the 2016 season this Saturday, October 17th at 10am at the UNO Dome. More information is available at www.Beeffootball.com.
