Additionally, both teams' starting goalkeepers, Kevin Hartman of the Galaxy and Tony Meola of the Wizards are two of only three 'keepers in MLS history to record at least 40 regular season shutouts in their careers.

GALAXY SHUT OUT FRESNO FUEGO 1-0 IN EXHIBITION MATCH: The Los Angeles Galaxy shutout the Fresno Fuego of the Premier Development League (PDL), 1-0, in a preseason exhibition last Saturday night at Lamonica Stadium in Fresno, CA. With the victory, the Galaxy improved to 9-0-2 (W-T-L) in preseason matches. L.A. Galaxy goalkeeper Kevin Hartman, who earned the clean sheet, put together a solid performance in goal while striker Carlos Ruiz, who scored his second consecutive game-winner, connected on a penalty kick for the match's only goal. The goal came as Fresno's Jarrod Souza was whistled for the foul as he battled with Ruiz for a header in the box from a Sasha Victorine cross in the 54th minute. The Guatemalan international then stepped up and fired the ensuing penalty kick into the left corner of the goal past diving Fresno goalkeeper Jeremy Proud for the only goal needed by the Galaxy defense in securing the 1-0 victory.
