Tacoma Defiance News Release

TUKWILA, WASH. - Victor Mansaray netted his team-leading second goal of the season in the first half, but OKC Energy FC headed home the equalizer in the match's waning seconds as Sounders FC 2 (1-3-3, six points) secured one point in the 1-1 result at Starfire Stadium on Sunday evening. With the draw, S2 extends a four-match unbeaten streak (1-0-3).

Despite S2 controlling possession in the early stages of the match, OKC Energy FC had the first dangerous chance when midfielder Coy Craft one-timed a shot directly at goalkeeper Tyler Miller in the scoring area in the 6th minute.

S2 began the scoring, though, in the 20th minute on a goal by Mansaray. Midfielder Myron Samuel sent a through-ball toward Mansaray, who poked the ball past the on-rushing goalkeeper Cody Laurendi. The second-year Homegrown Player then outran an OKC defender and slid into the ball as his opponent fell forward. The ensuing shot landed in the side-netting for his second score of the 2016 USL campaign.

OKC strung together numerous additional chances in the first half, but Miller maintained a clean-sheet. In the 42nd minute, Miller's made an impressive save with an outstretched, finger-tip stop. The following minute, the Northwestern product caught a shot attempt on his line. In the first 45 minutes, OKC had 14 shots, including six on target.

In the second half, midfielder Jordy Delem made his team debut in the 64th minute, while defender Brandon John made his team debut in the 83rd minute. Seattle defender Oniel Fisher was issued two yellow cards in a five-minute span as the Rave Green played with 10 men for the final eight minutes of the match.

Five minutes in second-half stoppage time, OKC scored the last-gasp equalizer off a long throw-in into Seattle's area. Chaos ensued in front of Miller's goal, as OKC's Jordan Rideout snuck a goal past Miller.

S2 wraps up the homestand at Starfire Stadium for a tilt against the Tulsa Roughnecks FC on Sunday, May 8 (7:00 p.m. PT / live-streamed on SoundersFC.com). S2 Flex Plans are available now. For a cost of $100, choose any eight combinations for all remaining S2 home matches.
