Twice is Nice, Two 2-Run Blasts Lift Miracle Over Mets

FORT MYERS, Fla. - Nelson Molina and Zander Wiel each blasted two-run home runs in the eighth inning of 6-0 win for the Fort Myers Miracle (15-16) on Sunday afternoon. The bombs broke a scoreless tie in the rubber match against the St. Lucie Mets (12-19).

RHP Dereck Rodriguez (W, 2-2) allowed just two hits over seven strong innings of work to earn the win. When Rodriguez left the game, the Miracle offense came alive to pick him up in the top of the eighth. Max Murphy was hit with a pitch which was followed a better later by Molina's two-run swat to right. Two batters later, Wiel launched a no-doubter to left off RHP Cameron Griffin (L, 0-1).

RHP Williams Ramirez cruised through the final two innings for Fort Myers on the mound. In the ninth, Molina added an RBI-double followed by a Chris Paul single to bring him around.

The Miracle pitching staff held Major League rehabber Lucas Duda hitless (0-for-4) as Rodriguez and Ramirez each struck him out swinging on fastballs.

Fort Myers heads home for a three-game series with Palm Beach. RHP Cody Stashak gets the ball for the first game against the Cardinals with first pitch at 6:35 PM ET.
