: Otters Send Six to All-Star Game

EVANSVILLE, IN - The Evansville Otters announced today that they will send six players to Frontier League All-Star Game in Florence, Ky., on July 13. League officials, team managers, and general managers voted second baseman Josh Allen and shortstop Rolando Gomez as West Division starters. First baseman Nik Balog, third baseman Chris Riopedre and pitchers Randy McCurry and Tyler Vail will join them on the roster.

In 46 games this year, Allen is hitting .359 with 5 home runs and 20 RBIs. Gomez is hitting .288 with 3 home runs and 16 RBIs in 39 games. Balog is hitting .322 with 3 home runs and 20 RBIs in 46 games. Riopedre is hitting .328 with 1 home run and 19 RBIs in 37 games.

Vail (2-2), a starter, leads the Frontier League with 59 strikeouts in 57.2 innings pitched. McCurry (1-1) leads the league with 14 saves.

Allen and Balog are in their third years with the Otters. Gomez and Vail played for Evansville last season. Riopedre and McCurry joined the club this year.
