Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release
FORT MYERS, Fla.- The Fort Myers Miracle (16-18) dropped the finale of a three-game series against the Palm Beach Cardinals (17-16) on Wednesday morning, 5-0. The Cardinals scored all five runs in the first two frames against RHP Keaton Steele (L, 1-5).
Palm Beach brought home a pair on three straight hits to start the game. Leadoff man Darren Seferrina doubled, and promptly scored on Randy Arozarena's double. Casey Turgeon then singled to give Palm Beach the early lead. In the second, Steele allowed three runs on five hits before being pulled from the game. A Seferrina RBI-single extended the lead before a Turgeon sac-fly and Chris Chinea RBI-double brought about the final score of 5-0.
Once the Cardinals' offense scored their runs, RHP Zac Gallen (W, 3-2) aided by tying a career-high with nine strikeouts over six innings. LHP Anthony Ciavarella, RHP Steven De La Cruz and RHP Landon Beck allowed three hits over the final three innings to close out the series.
Once Steele departed, Fort Myers used scoreless outings from LHP Jonny Drozd, RHP Williams Ramirez, LHP Sam Clay and RHP Nick Anderson to keep the game within reach.
The Miracle head to Port Charlotte for three games starting Thursday night at 6:35 PM ET. LHP Lachlan Wells toes the rubber for Fort Myers, while the Stone Crabs will send RHP Eduar Lopez to the mound.
