August 28, 2016 - DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (62-72) recorded their eighth shutout of the season, downing the Omaha Storm Chasers (56-76) 4-0, Saturday at Principal Park in front of 10,981 fans. Jake Buchanan recorded his 14th quality start and the Iowa bullpen combined for three one-hit frames. Kristopher Negrî"n went deep for the eighth time this season with a two-run shot off Jason Vargas in the second to put Iowa ahead early. Smith to Iowa on Rehab, Almora Jr. Active

August 27, 2016 - DES MOINES, IA - The Chicago Cubs assigned right-hander Joe Smith to Triple-A Iowa as a part of an injury rehabilitation assignment today. Outfielder Albert Almora Jr. was also activated from the disabled list and infielder Stephen Bruno was placed on the temporary inactive list. Smith was traded from the Los Angeles Angels to the Cubs on August 1 for Jesus Castillo. August 25, 2016 - DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Cubs (60-72) were limited to three hits as they fell 8-1 to the Omaha Storm Chasers (56-74), Thursday at Principal Park. Iowa took a three-run deficit into the ninth, but Omaha added four runs in the final frame to roll to victory. Jeimer Candelario headed Iowa's offensive effort, going 2-for-4 with the team's only RBI. The third baseman has a hit in 11 straight games and has reached base safely in each of his last 30 contests.
