Two Outs, No Problem; Blaze Win 4-3

May 27, 2016 - A seemingly innoccuous walk with two outs in the bottom of the 6th proved crucial, as the Bakersfield Blaze mounted a three-run rally, in the process overcoming a three-run deficit for a 4-3 win over visiting Rancho Cucamonga, and a series win, two games to one. The first five innings were a bonafide pitchers' duel, with Bakersfield's Tyler Herb (W, 5-2) and Rancho Cucamonga's Tommy Bergjans (L, 2-4) matching each other out for out. Each club scored a single run in the 2nd inning, with the... Full Story

Misiewicz's Gem Shines Brightest in Bako

May 26, 2016 - The loss of one ace didn't translate into doom for the rest of the Blaze starting rotation. Anthony Misiewicz (W, 2-4) was as ruthless as anyone for Bakersfield this season in a 6-0 victory by the Blaze (20-26). Misiewicz worked with focus and precision by limiting the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes (30-17) to just two hits all evening long. The southpaw got plenty of support from his offense and the defense did a fine job by turning four double plays in the win. Austin Wilson started the scoring... Full Story

May 25, 2016 - The Bakersfield Blaze came home hot off a 5-2 road trip, and while the team put 15 baserunners aboard, they stranded a dozen, and the visiting Rancho Cucamonga Quakes squeaked away with game one of the series, 4-2. Musical chairs hit the starting rotation of the Blaze on Tuesday and it saw one of the Seattle Mariners most productive prospects move up a level. Andrew Moore leads the Cal League in nearly every major statistical category and because of that, he has moved up to Jackson. With M... Full Story

Sloppy Outing Curbs Blaze Enthusiasm

May 24, 2016 - Lots of positives can be said about the Blaze after winning five of seven games on the road. On Monday however, there was more bad than good. Four wild pitches, a passed ball, and two errors ultimately led to a meltdown in Lake Elsinore as the Storm (20-25) thumped the Blaze (19-25), 14-5. Franchy Cordero (4-4, 2B, 3RBI, 2R) did the most damage at the plate, but Luis Urias helped pave the way for the rest of his teammates. Urias led three innings off, including the first, by walking and... Full Story
