Grizzlies Cruise Past Rascals in Fourth Straight Win

O'Fallon, Mo. - The Gateway Grizzlies won a fourth straight game as they beat the River City Rascals at CarShield Field on Saturday night, 9-5. For the second consecutive night, the Grizzlies (19-20) scored in the opening frame. Seth Heck started things with his first homer in professional baseball as he hit a solo shot over the left field fence. Davis' Bat and Arm Propel Pensacola To 6-4 Win

KODAK, Tenn. - Pensacola Blue Wahoos starting pitcher Rookie Davis used both his bat and his right arm to overcome the Tennessee Smokies, 6-4, Saturday at Smokies Park. He gave the Blue Wahoos the lead, 4-3, in the top of the fourth when he hit a sacrifice to left field that scored Pensacola third baseman Tyler Sparks from third. (Eastlake, OH) - Matt Esparza was simply dominant on the mound for the Lake County Captains on Saturday night at Classic Park. Esparza struck out 12 Great Lakes Loons hitters over seven shutout innings, setting career highs in both categories, as the Captains shutout the Loons, 1-0. Esparza was practically unhittable from the start. The right-hander struck out two men in each of the first two frames and did not allow a hit. Buffalo's starting staff may not have a complete game in 2016, but the team's pitching corps continues to be one of the best in the International League. The I-Tribe reached scoring position just twice as the Buffalo Bisons beat the Indianapolis Indians 4-0 at Victory Field Saturday evening. For the first time since his inaugural start of the season, Roberto Hernandez kept the opposition off the board.
