I have been reading that they are signing alot of players right out of highschool? I don't follow the IFL much but is that the way all teams in the IFL are doing it. I mean if this is professional football don't you want guys who have proven themselfs on the football field. I have seen they signed a guy who is in the Airforce and played one year of highschool football and that was 20 years ago? They also signed a few other players with one maybe two years of Highschool experience. I know Alaska is not a big football state but these guys are going to get hurt. I mean this is not backyard football. I am not downing that these guys are athleaths. But If fans are going to pay good money to see them play why not get the best you can. One guy said he played freshmen football and was a track star and did not know much about football at all. He said he wanted to play D-end cause there is not much you have to know about the position. The head coach signed his son who was pretty good in highschoo he said. But this is a differnt game. I am just worried about someone getting hurt. Other teams are going to have some guys who have been playing this game for a while and know how to bring it.
Owell that is my rant. But someone have info on any real players this team is going to sign.
Is the talent that bad up in Alaska? I are they going to bring in players from other states? If so do players have to pay their own way? Does anyone have answers?

If they were actually right out of highschool that would have been better news! These players haven't been on the field, in some cases, for close to a decade. And all that they have played was "FAIRBANKS, ALASKA" High School Football! Overall this puts the AK WILD in pretty good shape to earn a playoff spot now that we have six teams able to make playoffs.

If you noticed almost the whole majority of the players are from West Valley High School or have some previous childhood connection with the Head Coach. My condolenses to goes to club president Chad Dittman in hopes that the players contracts includes free funeral arrangements. Too bad for the CenTex Barracudas that do not get to play the Grizzlies for a certain win!
But, if you think about it Fairbanks will play the Corpus Christi 3 times and Louisiana only once so maybe Mr. Dittman is setting the Hammerheads to have a shot for a better record than the Swashbucklers and this will allow him to host Intense Bowl IV.
Way to go Chad!
It is probally pretty cold up in AK. I would not mind going up there to play that would be awsome. I am sure they will get it together. Besides they wanna get the guys who serve in the military. Who is in better shape then those guys. How did the other Ak team do last year anyone know?
Wow, if I were Fairbanks I would be using the whole entire state to recruit players not some high school has been or high school never weres. Alaska is the biggest state in the country. I'm sure there are some former college players in that state somewhere. Yes, I know Alaska doesn't have that many people, but going outside of Fairbanks gives the appearance that the team is at least trying. It is going to be hard to market this team when the talent is on par with outdoor minor league football.
It is the goal of just about every team to sign a few local players if possible, if for no other reason than marketing and/or publicity purposes. However, just because players are signed doesn't mean they are going to make the final cut. If you recall last season, the Alaska Wild had over 200 guys show up to their first ever tryout and signed a good number of those players. Maybe one or two of those guys, if any, actually made the final roster once training camp ended. Most signings are made at this point just so that the teams will have something to feed the media.
