Default 2008 All Star Game out of the OC

The GBL and the ULB (United League Baseball) announced a two-year deal to have each league's all stars play each other. The 2008 game will be in San Angelo, Texas while the 2009 game will be in Fullerton.

That statement alone should be good enough to discuss. Your thoughts?

Unhappy 2007 All Star Game

I must admit; I think interleague All Star games are fun and liven up the competition. If the same leagues continue the competition, even something like a "Cup" or trophy can be awarded. But most of the time, these arrangements don't last any longer than when one of the leagues goes out of business. (That won't be the GBL however!) I am disappointed with San Angelo being awarded this season's game; was looking forward to being in Fullerton. I guess we'll have to wait until 2009 (when the San Diego Surf Dawgs may offer up some of the GBL representatives). Just one thing I need to know; we didn't lose a coin toss did we?!
Surf Dawg in Waiting,
Paul

It's not hard to find things out if you ask the right people.
What did you ask of whom?

Default Teamwork

This is good. I always like to see the Indy leagues work together, I just wish it happened more often. Go Vipers!

Question Hope it isn't true

This subject is troubling. Have any of you visited Ameriage Park in Fullerton? Last time I was there, seating consisted of sitting on step-like concrete. Capacity appeared to guarantee lowest attendence in the league. Whoever started this thread better check out integrity of the messenger. Seems inplausible, but Indy baseball can bring surprises.

Default Hey J Potter...

Hey John,

How are the RoadRunners doing in the offseason? I haven't heard much from them, since the website hasn't been updated since Thanksgiving. Where can I get an authentic hat as well?

Default Still Haven't Changed My Screen Name

I know, I know...I need to change my screen name...

I know I am somewhat out of the loop, officially, but I still do talk with the owners of the Flyers, the folks at CSUF, and a few City officials in Fullerton, as I am close friends with all of the above.

What I know is this...

As of last week, the Flyers no longer owe CSUF any money; the Flyers would like to play at Goodwin Field (CSUF) in 2008, as it is the best option this late in the game; the Flyers would like to have their own stadium (who wouldn't?), and ever since I was the GM there, Amerige Park (with a lot of work) would be ideal. It was my idea, originally, to look at Amerige as a possible home stadium for the Flyers. There are some preliminary drawings of what Amerige would look like as the Flyers permanent home, and it looks pretty impressive!

My prediction...Flyers to play at CSUF in 2008, and then aggressively push to play at Amerige in 2009, and beyond. Just my prediction, but it is based on more than a gut feel. No, not inside info - just my opinion based on paying attention...

Anyway, life here at USC is great, especially since we just beat UCLA basketball in Men's AND Women's over the weekend.

I will be stopping by the Flyers tryout on Saturday, so I hope to see any of you that will be there, as well!

All my best to all of you, best wishes to the Flyers for a successful season in 08, and FIGHT ON!!

Ed

Default Hey Ed!

Hey Ed, good to see you back in here. Glad to hear your new opportunity has worked out well.

Thought I might be running into you this season at Goodwin but.... Johnny has been traded to the Traverse City Beach Bums (www.traversecitybeachbums.com) of the Frontier League. It's all good though, he will be back behind the plate there and he got a decent offer increasing his salary. Gotta love Minor League Baseball!!

Won't be the same at Flyer's games this year not seeing you doing the Macarena!!

Ironic: Johnny was just informed that the new Palm Springs Chill has picked him up for the Arizona Winter League, (he played summer collegiate ball for the owner Andrew Starke 2 years ago), his manager....Garry Templeton.

Small world after all.

Take care Ed, Go Flyers, Go Bums!!
