I just noticed...
...The USBL team page is touched up.
No Gary or Delaware. But they forgot to remove Albany. Its seems like they're
at least going to try and start back up next season. We probably won't
really know whats going on until March or April.

I'm not sure who they'd have to start back up with. Oklahoma, Kansas and Dodge City all seem to be done with the USBL.

To bad they lost them...Had the league done a better job promoting the
south central region, it may have been a different story. It seems like the
USBL has gotten kind of ABA'ish with the way it treats its fans and "model"
franchises.

The midwest is done with the USBL and trying to put together a midwest league...time is a wastin' though and it's looking more and more like Oklahoma, Dodge City and Kansas will be a victim of a collapsing league.

Forth Article in Albany Times-Union
With his competitive playing days dwindling (he said he might return to the Albany Patroons during the United States Basketball League' summer season, as long as it doesn't conflict with his responsibilities at school), Forth is focused on guiding others. Through seven games, the Blue Devils are 6-1 and have hopes of repeating a 19-1 season from last year.
This is the first evidence (if it is really any evidence) that the Patroons might actually consider returning to the USBL. I assume they haven't been taken off the website became they haven't formally said they are leaving the league.

Story in the Salina Journal mentions Dodge, Kansas, Oklahoma, a couple teams from Nebraska and somebody else (Wichita? Iowa?) putting together the Midwest Professional Basketball League.
That name itself is a turn off.
I've been a big USBL/Cagerz fan since Day 1, but I would say Salina isn't going to buy into this new league, especially if games are held at Kansas Wesleyan instead of the BiCenter.

From Dan Krieger:
Quote:
United States Basketball League: The USBL announced it will not play a 2008 season, but the league plans to pursue expansion franchises for its start up the following season. Apparently, only the Brooklyn Kings franchise was committed to returning in 2008. The teams from Kansas (Salina), Oklahoma (Enid) and Dodge City were trying to form a six-team league in the Midwest that could include the cities of Wichita (KS), Kearney (NE) and Omaha (NE).

The BK Kings are going to be playing in the NPBL this spring from what I've heard.

Cagerz officially kaput
Heard today that the Cagerz are done as well as a possible new league that included them and some other former USBL teams.
Bummer.
Not sure what I'll do with my free time now. I only missed two home games in their entire stay in Salina and even hit a few road games to Dodge, Oklahoma and Kearney NE.
