Default So What

And why do we care or dwell on whether or not these Mgr's wll not be back??

In the MLB there will probally be 5-8 mgr's who are fired, it happens every year.

I'm sure the numbers in Indy ball are higher due to other jobs that come abailable accross the Country. We all look for jobs that may pay better or provide better benefits for are families.

Would love to see Desi Wilson come back to the GBL and be a Mgr. He was one of the main reasons Chico drew so well last year. Everyone loved him, he would wave to kids during the inning while at 1st base...

On another note Garry Templeton was never a people person while playing in the MLB,

I know that some stuff is "not for public comsumption". There are legal, ethical and other factoprs involved. I love the fact that Ed and the Commish come in and discuss what they can. However, and I know this from personal dealings with ED, he'll inflame a situation and leave you with more questions than answears. On this board, it is real easy for him to get on a "high horse", take a position and when questioned on his position--he just disappears. I completely agree that there are things that can not, and should not be discussed, but when Ed responds to a thread-he needs to be accountable for his comments.
The stupid part is that Ed is a nice guy and means well, and I come off like an idiot because I ask the follow up questions. My next thread is going to be a direct thread to Ed---because he asked....lets see what happens.
I am not a jerk, but I will call anyone to task if they choose to engage in an open forum. I would prefer a "no comment" or "cant comment" rather than a lame answear.

I don't presume to speak for the rest of the board, but I've never seen Ed on a "high horse" here....or in Real Life.

*shrug*

Maybe I'm missing things?

Default 100% Wrong Ed Hart

Here we go again Ed, basically calling me a liar when Alan Mintz and crew gave Hector Zamora a standing ovation for threatening to kill the umpire. I was ten feet from Mintz and he WASN'T giving Rich Pohle the ovation. That was one of those “that’s my story and I’m sticking to it” kind of stories that was made up after my post, to cover everyone’s butt. In fact, as Zamora was being pulled back into the dugout Alan bent over to direct the applause right at Zamora. Hell, Pohle was still milling around the dugout, and there was no announcement of Rich coming into the game until Zamora was in front of the visitor’s dugout, half was to the locker room. As far as talking to ‘many’ in the "entourage" goes (by the way there were 6, not MANY), and why would you speak to the entourage unless someone else complained about there actions before me. And you're trying to tell this board you spoke to Rich as well, and he told you that Alan and the entourage could have only been giving HIM the standing "O", I think not. I know Rich personally and I can guarantee you one thing, he couldn’t care less if Alan Mintz or anyone else is in the stands, let alone notice if he was giving him a standing ovation. I can’t believe you would ask Rich if he saw Alan give him a standing ovation, and Rich saying “Yea I know Alan was giving me the standing ovation and not Hector Zamora. How in the heck would you expect Rich to know who Alan was giving the standing ovation to?
Now let me get this time line correct. I posted my posting at 9:25pm on July 25th. Your nasty rebuttal basically calling me a liar, was posted 1 hour and twenty minutes later. That means you somehow you researched who the six people where sitting with Alan, found out their phone numbers and called them all in one hour and twenty minutes. Not to mention the timeframe of being late, between 9:25pm and 10:45pm, was probably too late to call them. And besides Ed, if you didn't notice, Rich Pohle was in Chico playing baseball for your Flyers at the time of the post. I always thought you were good guy. But as I have learned from the private messages I have received from others on this board, you are only a nice guy when it is a positive post about you or you’re Flyers. If something comes up negative or you don’t like it, you basically call people liars with that “100 percent positive” crap. I would have respected you had you told this board that ‘since YOU didn’t see it you couldn’t comment on it’, that would have been fair to everybody. Maybe you should use this approach in the future.

Default Ed's Response

Nothing was made up after your post - contrary to what you might think, not many fans read these, and we would not "create a story" based on anyone's post in here. Your entire paragraph about time lines makes no sense...

I really don't need to go into details with you, because I know what I know, and I never even alluded to any conversation I might have had on the 25th. My conversations about the inicident on the night HZ was ejected happened the next day. I am not calling you a liar, I just know the story to be different than you do - I can see where you may have interpreted it a certain way, but I am here to tell you, the ovation was for Rich coming out of the dugout to start swinging. I was sitting right behind home plate (one of the times lately where I actually saw the entire thing), with our pitchers who were charting the game. I heard everything Zamora said, I saw everything he did, and I saw as the owners began to cheer when they saw Rich come out of the dugout.

Alan's wife and friends are big Rich Pohle fans, and there was an event the previous day (not getting into it at all) that led to their applause of him coming up...of this I am certain. I promise you that the applause was not for Zamora threatening the umpire, nor was it for his actions or words...

Heck, Rich hit a grand slam recently, and autographed the ball and gave it to Mrs Mintz - he is a favorite, and the applause was for him...

No one on our team, or in our front office, applauded Zamora's actions, and I can assure you that we feel the punishment (I released him from the team before the league took action) fit his crime.

I understand if you don't like me, or if you think I am one way with some, and another way with others. I am consistent with people who own their voice and talk to me, but when a person does not have the courage to tell me who they are, and then question the way I run my business, and the passion I have for my job, I have little tolerance.

If people have PM'd you about me, so be it. Your description of me is so off base that it is funny. My only beef, again, is when people question me, my integrity, or my way of working, behind my back, and do not have the courage to talk to me. I still don't know who you are. If you truly are an "ex" Flyers fan, that is fine. We all have the right to choose. However, you have never come to me and shared your genuine concerns with me, face to face, so there is nothing I can do for you. If you have ideas on WHAT TO DO, rather than complaints about WHAT YOU DON'T LIKE, let me know.

I have always had a policy with my staff, regardless of where I have worked, where if a person comes to me with a problem, I ask them to also come to me with possible solutions.

You are not happy with Garry, with me, with other aspects of the Flyers. That is fine. But what do you suggest? Fire Garry? Then what? Who runs this team and helps us make a run at it this season? You want me to quit? Sorry, it will take more than one unhappy fan to get me out of here. You don't like G2? I'll bet you would have cheered when he hit a grandslam the other night in Chico.

I apologize if others of you feel I am only nice to you when I agree with you - sadly mistaken, but if that is the image I have, then let me know, and I will do my best to work on that. I am always open to feedback, and know that I am FAR from perfect.

However, this IS my job, my profession, and how I feed my family, pay my bills, and make a living - it is not just a hobby, and there is a lot to this job that I do not bring to the public eye, and a lot of internal conversations and events that will never make it to this board - one of which is how certain I am that the applause on that night was for Pohle coming to bat, and not for Zamora melting down on the ump. I cannot, and will not, share with you how I know because it is a thing of the past, and none of your business. It is, and will remain, an internal issue. I just know, and if you want to call me a liar, or assume that I am calling you a liar, there is nothing I can do about that.

Again, every time I mention my cell phone and/or email, not one person has used it to contact me. If you want to disagree with me, contact me.

I am not bitter, but I will always do my best to protect my entire team, and to protect the truth, as best as I know. I saw EVERYTHING that night, EX, so I am speaking from FIRST HAND experience.

Like me or not, this is me. Hate to lose you as a fan, and if we were ever friends, I hate to lose you even more, but how I can work on a relationship with a person that will not let me know who they are? If you want to know some things that I am not willing to share for the public eye on here, call me. If I can share it with you, I will. If I can't, I will tell you that I can't and we can move on.

You saw an incident that night one way, and are positive that you are correct. I saw the same incident another way, and am certain that I am correct. Does that mean that one of us is calling the other a liar? Of course not.

Ed

Default Sorry Ed, not this time

Ex, I read your post and I must say you are one methodical guy with your analysis. I usually don’t like to get into these he said she said things but I’m taking Ex’s side on this one Ed, and here is why. I too was at that game sitting by the visitor’s side dugout. I had a clear view of Alan and his group and I saw exactly what Ex saw with probably an even better angle. One of the reasons I believe Ex is that I did saw Alan bend over, not more than 5 feet from Zamora, and direct his applause at him. Nobody else was around except a group of about 6 or 8 players pulling Zamora into the dugout. Alan’s actions took place as Zamora was being pulled into the dugout, not when he was being led away and when Rich was swinging his bat. Rich never came out and started swinging his bat until Zamora was past me, well down the first base line. You are right Ed, I saw them all standing and clapping when Rich came out but that was well after Zamora was on his way to the clubhouse. And lets face it, nobody really knows what Alan’s intentions were except Alan. So for you Ed, to say that you are “100% positive that I am right on this one” is simply an untrue statement.
From what I’ve read from Ex he has said ‘he likes you and that you deserve better’, but I think you really put a burr in his saddle this time. I would love to meet both of you someday, but probably not in the same room.
