the vermont frostheaves were rated the #1 minor league sports team over every team in the CBA and the NBDL
I would think its safe to say that the ABA's championship team is better then the CBA's.
The CBA Started with 10 teams was cutt to 8 before the season and finished with 7 teams.
Not only does the ABA have the #1 team in all of minor league basketball over the CBA , they also have teams , unlike the CBA where teams have folded down to 7 teams.
The ABA may have had the #1 team (in my opinion it was the Rochester Razorsharks), but they left because of the horrible antics by the league office.
If I could say one thing positive about the ABA it's that it is becoming a pretty productive breeding ground for fledging franchises. For those owners that do understand the business of minor league sports, the ABA provides them a relatively cheap "test market" to see if they can create a successful franchise. For those that succeed, they can leave the nest and move on to more professional, better run leagues.
ABA06er, if you have a problem with how the boards are operating, you will PM one of the mods or email me. This is your only warning. These forums are for discussing minor league sports, not board administration. Please keep that in mind from now on.
1.) the Pittsburgh explosion had one of the worst seasons in Minor League Sports History.
All season and you still can't get the team's name right. It was the Xplosion, same as it was in the ABA. And for that matter, the Xplosion's season, while not the greatest, was better than the ABA's Newark Express (4-23), the ABA's Houston Takers (4-19), the ABA's Aurora Force (0-2), and that's only the teams that the ABA still acknowledges in their standings. Because there's no way on God's green earth that in that megapolis of the ABA, you'd actually have a 3-team division that used to be a six-team division (White North) or a three-team division that had a heckuva lot more teams (Red North). Of course, this is from a league that actually allowed a 2-23 team (Boston Frenzy) into last year's playoffs. Did Pittsburgh have a rough year? No question. But it wasn't as bad as at least a dozen ABA teams this season.

2.) They alley cats and Pittsburgh drew about 50 fans per game.
Once again your statement is incorrect. The only team that averaged less than 500 fans a night were the Utah Eagles, and they were a franchise that just didn't work. Pittsburgh and Indiana both had to deal with situations not of their making (for Pittsburgh, a losing streak caused by relying on their previous season's ABA talent, which shows you that Coleco Buie was only an All-Star on the ABA level; for Indiana, having to put up with Crazy Joe's "Anderson Champions" market confusion scheme). But in the end, Pittsburgh was drawing 1,500 a night and Indiana was also putting at least 1,000 fans in the stands every night. That's good solid levels to build on. Meanwhile, teams not named Rochester or Vermont were having trouble drawing more than 300 a night. "How can you say to your brother, 'Let me take the speck out of your eye,' when all the time there is a plank in your own eye?" (Matthew 7:4, NIV)

3.) the CBA started out with 10 teams then dropped to 8 teams before the season then finished with only 7 teams. At this rate the CBA will have no teams eventually........
Funny... at the end of the 2005-06 season the CBA was down to 2 teams (Albany and Yakama) and they seem to have rebounded nicely. And now that seven franchises have good solid foundations, and expansion teams are ready to join them, the CBA will be stronger than ever. As opposed to the ABA, where six teams simply quit the convoluted playoffs. You can't spin that one into a positive.
yeah he's banned, but here's some "basketball" talk..

My rants were basketball related !!!!!!!! thats the whole point things here should be basketball related.
And they are justiflyable .......
What is justiflyable? Is that jive?
OK, though, I guess I can say anything, crazy or not, provided I mention a team along the way.

They played all but one of their games, and for the one they didn't play, they had a legit excuse (Mother Nature).

Which is par for the course in the ABA.

I don't count teams that folded before the season started onto the "season started with" numbers, so they started with 8, and lost one when the situation became untenable. And you now what? It was a big flippin' deal in the CBA because it was the first time in years that happened. For the ABA, they say they were "suspended for not meeting obligations" and then move on, because so many other teams have died as well.

So I'd rather spend a quarter of an ABA franchise to repair my car, as opposed to spending a franchise and a half to get a new car that might have some planned obsolescence that causes it to break down 5 days after the end of the warranty period.

I agree. Here is another plea to PLEASE act civil towards each other. Hold the personal attacks or I will send Chuck to everyone's house and he will sing the theme from the "Facts of Life" until you promise in blood to stay on topic and/or stop bashing each other.
No anything but that!!!!!!! "You take the good, you take the bad ....." Mommy make it stop. Blair she's sooo scary. (Now Jo was hot, at least I thought so when I was a kid. She was a bad girl). Now look, you got me off topic.

Considering that ABA is banned, it's going to be a while until he can answer you, unless he signs back up under another alias.
