ABA gets first NBA Call-up
Albeit through an inside organizational connection, Matt Barnes of the Long Beach Jam has been given a 10-day contract by the LA Clippers. Congrats to Matt, the Jam and the ABA.
A side note, the Barnes-less Jam destroyed the Squires on Sunday 149-108. SG Cleotis Brown of the Squires led all scorers with 33 points on 45% shooting. Also, some people are saying that the Tijuana team is pencil-whipping their stat books. I hope this is not the case.....

What I am saying is...
some players have said that they have scored more points in the ball games than the official scorers are listing in the books...I have heard this from about three players on three different teams.

Because that's what I want players doing - totalling up their own points in their heads instead of concentrating on the game.
Pouring in points in some glorified YMCA league with no defense isn't necessarily going to get you called up to the NBA.
Chichester's crack officiating staff is supposed to check to make sure book and board agree throughout a game - so if somebody's saying they're not getting all their points, it means someone else has to be getting points added on, right? I mean, unless the team scores 145 points, and the players' points only total up to 135 or something.

The league does boast some pretty good talent with Gino Carlisle, Cleotis Brown, DeMarr Johnson, and Rodman. Talent is not the problem in this league it is the administration of the league that is the problem. You could legitimately take the top players (PG/SG/SF/PF/C) in the ABA and pit them against the same represented class of the CBA and NBDL and have a very competitive game. In addition, the league has had one NBA call-up and will possibly have about two more. If such is the case for YMCA Leagues then maybe we do need to discard the minor league system and just go with a YMCA based system.

anon, "YMCA League" referred more to the administration of the league itself (to which you alluded) than to the level of talent. Obviously there are some talented players in the league (outside of Jersey/Philly/Whatever). But outside of Long Beach, the administration itself is woeful.
Say hey to Cleotis for us.
