Looks like that TRBL and FBA model is the future of minor-league basketball as we know it...can't wait for the WBA (Wisconsin Basketball Association) to form hopefully...

It will be interesting to see the results and progress of the TRBL http://www.trblproball.com/ and the FBA http://www.thefba.com/ after a couple seasons.

Definitely.

I love the subtleties of it all.

The FBA announced themselves as proud as a peacock, explaining that their team selection processes were superior.. then a few weeks later they were saying how one of their teams had been removed for metaphorically holding out a "PENCILS FOR SALE" sign in order to travel to a game..

No bravado since then, because they've realized they're no better than any of the others when it comes right down to it.

Aside from their Apple-like orange-based logo, their regional model is the best thing they have going for it.. they're competing with the CBL, ABA and ABL now, however. Which means Florida has between 2 and 4 too many leagues at this level..

Anyway. I arrived at my new home in Fort Myers, FLORIDA, last night. Clearly I'm dying to check out some of the state's adult recrea -- errrrrrrr -- minor league professional basketball teams this summer.

Though i do love our logo... I do want to comment on what you had to say. We are happy to see others like the ALBA using a similar model.

As for the team selections - we did not accept any team officially into the league that ended up not playing. As stated on the site - all teams were being evaluated. Certain teams didn't make the cut this season.

As for bravado - since Florida is our home, we spend most our time promoting within the state. We are keeping it low key, so In someways you are correct. We don't want to oversell what we are.

I wouldn't say, it was such a bravado thing; though one of the FBA team owners does show quite a bit of resolve. I'm thinking more like it was time for FBA member teams to get prepared for the season, and let League matters take their course.

It would be nice to believe that a single, state-wide Minor League Basketball Association in Florida could exist, though the reality may be different. There could be 2-3 different leagues in Florida, based on the recruitment of particular types of ownerships to fit the expectation levels that the leagues are looking to mandate for their member organizations and toward creating distinguished and identifiable products/brands.

Take shots at me all day long. I'm good with that. With each bitter comment, you look just like the rest of the silenced ones in all of THEIR bravado: bitter and resentful. I find it comical anymore.

However, don't disrespect these players. There is nothing "recreational" about what they are trying to do. At least these players have the guts and wherewithal to put action behind their passion, ambition and desires. Maybe that's why you and the rest are so bitter. These players are man enough to pursue their passion despite the challenges instead of letting the challenges and what people say dictate their decisions. Don't project your past regrets onto others. That's played out.

I've screamed it for 2-3 years now. The regional, state-wide model is the future of minor league basketball. We don't need you to co-sign what we all are doing. You aren't that important, bud!

Ok lads, let's tone this thread down abit ...

IMO, Mark is right about MLB, Let's build momentum from building foundations at the STATE levels, moving into the ability to establish REGIONAL leagues that support the advancement of organization, the business of basketball and higher competition, then take the the push forward toward reaching the goal of creating a true National Minor League Basketball System. A system which could possibly afford 2 national leagues, one that plays by NBA Rules and one which plays by FIBA Rules. Throw in a couple National Minor League Championship Tournaments, Showcases or Invitationals with some Domestic FIBA sanctioned tournaments with visiting international squads, and things will look much brighter for the future.

And by the way, there are a solid # of people out in the Market Place who are conducting, organizing, marketing and promoting the sport of basketball and making a living on it. The current various MLB entities should be seeking out these individuals for guidance and learning best practices. Until we all do so, the atmosphere and attitude surrounding the game will remain the same.

Why not just own the mistake and talk about what you learned... and how you improved your process for new team applications?

No one is expecting the FBA to be perfect.. but you did announce them as an FBA team, scheduled some games for them, etc etc.. it's kinda bs to say "not our fault" and "they weren't really an FBA team"..
