The National Basketball League of Canada is contemplating a potential expansion into St. Catharines.
Last Thursday, St. Catharines Mayor Brian McMullan met with NBL co-founders Andre Levingston and Ian McCarthy to discuss the possibility of having the city join the seven-team league that completed its inaugural season this spring.
“We are scouting out potential markets that we think could embrace a professional basketball team and would support it,” Levingston said Tuesday. “The mayor there gave us a bit of his time to have that discussion and we left with a positive feeling.”
St. Catharines was one of several cities visited last week. Levingston didn’t want to say which other cities he visited.
