Default N.B.L proposes Kitchener franchise

http://www.therecord.com/sports/loca...ener-franchise

"National Basketball League of Canada representatives came to Kitchener on Monday to discuss the possibility of bringing a team to the city.

Mayor Carl Zehr met with NBL president and chief executive officer Andre Levingston to hear his proposal as to why Kitchener should be the next city to join the league."

This line is at the bottom of the article
"The NBL is also currently working towards bringing teams to the cities of Kingston and Windsor."

I've always wanted to see a team called the Kitchener Heat.

"If you can't stand the Heat, get out of Kitchener!"

Nice facility, albeit one with miserably tight seating. The Waterloo Rec Center is closer to the universities ( where you find a lot of the KW basketball fans), is a more ideal size at 3,500, but likely wouldn't work as it has European size ice (100 feet wide instead of standard 85 - Kitchener Aud is actually about 80), meaning seats would be further from the court and sightlines would be worse. A KW team could definitely work though!

KITCHENER — It did not take Rob Vendetti long to decide he wanted to finance a National Basketball League team in Kitchener.

“Basketball is my life, literally,” Vendetti said.

Just over a month into the National Basketball League of Canada’s inaugural season, which tipped off in late October, Vendetti contacted league president and chief executive officer Andre Levingston and expressed his desire to own a team.
