There is nothing from the league about caling it quits. The article's do say there is payment due before they get to use the field, but that is just smart business on the citys part.
Two years ago, the Orange County Flyers folded, owing the university $75,000 for using Goodwin Field. The Orange County Flyers are returning to play this season under new management.
The Schaumburg Flyers baseball team is being evicted from Alexian Field for owing hundreds of thousands in unpaid rent and fees. His team went out of business in December, owing more than $200,000 in back rent to Joliet and at least $300,000 to various vendors, based on lawsuits filed. The replacement team, the Schaumburg Boomers, will begin play in 2012 under new owner Patrick Salvi.
September 22, 2010 (JOLIET, Ill. ) (WLS) -- The future of the Joliet Jackhammers is unclear as the minor league team struggles with financial difficulties. Ferro faced a Joliet City Council that wants over $200,000 in back rent paid. Ferro wants a break on the bill, saying otherwise the Jackhammers will not be able to play. Ferro said he lost over $1.6 million over the last two years even after putting $800,000 of his own money back into the team.
The Joliet Jackhammers were sold in December 2010 after months of negotiations to Steel City Baseball LLC,On January 12th, 2011 GM John Dittrich announced for the 2011 season the new team would be called the Joliet Slammers. The team will continue to use Silver Cross Field as their home venue.
The list could go on and on about independent baseball leagues and teams that folded and came back, so let wait and see what happens next for the Freedom Pro Baseball League.
Those were teams in true indy teams that were bought.
Not a whole league that can't pay to get into their ballparks because of no money. Sorry but this is a sign of what's coming.
There is nothing from the league about caling it quits.
Because, of course, the first thing the league would do is admit it.
It's simple math, really. If someone wanted to bankroll an entire league, they could, but they'd be idiotic to continue doing it with no path to anything but more losses.

Tim Gross, Joe Sperle, and all the leagues employees have done a great job getting the league this far after what looked like the end of the Freedom Pro Bsaeball League to many people, even on this forum. After a one game lockout at Phoenix Municipal Stadium on July 16th the league now enters it's final month of play. The Freedom Pro Baseball League has never made any public comment on the lockout or any financial issues that the league may be facing, but they did not have to. The game was played the next day and the league never missed a pitch. Fans of the Freedom Pro Baseball League are still looking for the league to step up to the plate with the daily updates of scores and player stats, even the league standings have been incorrect all season long, but that has not stopped a handful of faithful fans from showing up to the games. This just goes to show there is a big chance for the league to succeed with some work. With the low prices at the gate and snack bar it is a family frendily night out. The league just need to figure out how to turn a profit and keep it going.
Only the most optimistic people ever would think that "a handful of faithful fans" indicates a "big chance for the league to succeed with some work."

And all they need to do is "just figure out how to turn a profit?" Really?

You are right - they did not miss a pitch.... however, at the next game -- the first game of the doubleheader - they had a whopping attendance of 7 at the time the game started ...by the final inning (7th)-- attendance had increased to 20...meanwhile --hardly anybody has even heard of the league --no news is not good news when you are selling a product ... they need to sell this league -shoot -- they could do well - but they have to let people know about it -- and tell people how the league is doing - not posting scores and stats does not help ---
I do hope this league makes it - I have to about 10 games -- but have learned to check the schedule before I leave for the game - as the schedule changes ----
Am I wrong or did the league just dump a bunch of doubleheaders that they had scheduled -- I am thinking particularly of this weekend- I seem to remember and have people flying out to see a doubleheader but they seem to have disappeared..... and still no coverage
