White football
What is the story with the white football? I know the Bucs have game day promotions with special footballs, but I did not see anything advertised for the home opener.
Just curious.

Not sure in years past it was agreed that special hade to be aproved by the league and balls given to the visiting team weeks prior to the game to practice with. I find it interesting that it seems there are some teams using the red, white and blue balls, (AIFA) and others using the traditional brown balls (SIFL)

I am guessing the AIFA balls are being used because the SIFL footballs have not or will not be coming in for the old AIFA teams due to the late merger.
They may wait until 2012 to order the new AF2 footballs.

Why does the ball have to be 'white'? Why can't it just be a 'ball'. You will hurt the balls feelings.

It's probably because they were already paid for. Use what you've got until the stock is depleted before spending more money.
The original AFL's commissioner was David C. Baker when they went bankrupt. A new group bought the name and intellectual property at the firesale and restarted a new league under the same name. They continued to use the old balls with Mr Bakers signature even though he no longer was associated with the new rebranded league, because they were paid for. People catching them in the stands were like WTF?
No sense in throwing away good balls just to spend more money. Especially with how many you lose into the stands and theft each season.

Yes, I agree with you. That is why the old AIFA teams are using the AIFA footballs.
But the Swashbucklers are an SIFL team, and the football shown is not an AIFA ball as it is all white.

LOL. That's the distinguishing color of it. You're a nut, Coach!

I was looking at the pics and something was gnawing at me. Those boards look a little short. One player is almost upright and the boards reach hip height. I know Lake Charles had a hockey team once. Are those boards left over? do they belong to the team or the center?

Those boards are the SIFL regulation size. I have always thought that they were a little short too but depending on the player standing next to it, its really not that short. As far as the leftover question on the boards, I am not real sure to that answer. If I had to guess, I would say yes knowing the owner of the Swashbucklers!

The walls seemed the correct size when I was there.
Maybe they found a batch of the EIFL left over balls, they were made by the same company "Thaddea", but then again I think the EIFL balls had a gold stripe on them to highlight spin/movement. The only two leagues I recall using a white ball was the EIFL and the IPFL.
