This is very disappointing to me. All off season we have heard about possible expansion to four cities, as referenced by the UFL: Austin, TX; San Antonio, TX; Omaha, NE: and Salt Lake City, UT.
What gets me is, why did they wait until Feb to start touring the Alamodome? If expansion was even a remote possibility, shouldn't someone have been doing some due diligence? This league is not destitute. Their New York offices has ten full time employees and is in stones throw proximity to Grand Central Station. On top of that, they have 23 people working out of the Jacksonville, FL office where the commissioner resides.
Don't get me wrong, I want the UFL to succeed but after hearing early season ticket packages only include four home games, you can conclude that five teams playing an eight game season with bye weeks is not real progress. Sure the football is great - that is the cornerstone. But attendance is horrible, pr is taking a major hit, and marketing is iffy at best.
Personally, I hope that the schedule delay is because of Cuban's $30 million dollar injection to get a team in San Antonio. There are only two sports in Texas: football and spring football. The UFL needs a footprint in the Great Republic of TX.
