You can NOT make this stuff up...
Here is Joe's response to the PBL/PR episode:

Captains defended
ABA said the directors of PBL, who drove out of his league Arecibo, are a problem
The good name of the organization Arecibo Captains began to be restored today thanks to statements by the chief executive officer of the American Basketball Association (ABA), Joe Newman, who claimed that the directors of the Premier Basketball League (PBL) are people problems and even racist.
After learning that the PBL expelled in recent days to the Captains of his league when it remained one game to play in the regular season and were assured their participation in the playoffs of that competition, Newman wrote an email to the legal representatives of the team Arecibo in emphasizing that the current chairman of the President of the Governing Board of the PBL, Serverko Hrywnak, who is in turn Razorsharks team owner in Rochester, was expelled from the ABA for failing to meet financial commitments.
The Captains definitely deserved a better deal. What has happened and the reaction of the PBL should never be expected. I would have liked to have spoken to you before entering the PBL and exposed to Sev and Tom, "Newman told him the lawyers of Arecibo and referring to Tom the current president of the PBL, Thomas Doyle.
Newman said Doyle was a former employee of the ABA this league who paid $ 14,000 for expenses of representation that were being directed to form behind them the PBL.
Meanwhile, said the Razorsharks were expelled from the PBL for failing to pay out to share the profits generated by the computer with their participation in the 2005 postseason.
On the other hand, also referred to team owner Rainmax Halifax, Andre Levingston, as another person who owes money to the ABA. He mentioned that the ABA gave him $ 40,000 to meet payments of transfer of the team, which left the ABA to establish the PBL near Rochester. Indeed, complications of the Captains to travel to Halifax by mishaps of weather conditions and request for a repayment spending an airplane are the reasons why PBL has identified as grounds for expulsion from the Arecibo team.
Newman said that these people not paid to the ABA the money owed.
"They formed the PBL behind us and only recruited white-market teams were in the ABA," complained Newman, warning that people identified Arecibo are always looking for litigating cases in courts.
Finally Arecibo Newman extended his invitation to consider becoming part of the ABA next year.
When the Captains managed through dialogue to be readmitted to the PBL. Failing this, do not rule out going to the Federal Court to seek an injunction to return them to the confrontation.

The BSN is not starting March 31, as you state on your thread. It started over a month ago. The Capitanes have been playing both leagues succesfully. They have a 14-3 in the PBL and 7-1 record in the BSN. No problems there!!!
The Capitanes organization might have inflated egos or maybe just not be very used to winter weather travel, still, it all sounds pretty fishy. It just sounds like the league, who at the same time are team owners, just got rid of a top contender. One they did not count on having when they invited them to join the league.

How could you say they didn't expect PR to be a top contender when the Capitanes have been the favorite to win the league since before the season began? Everyone expected them to be in the playoffs, but since they didn't pay bills, threatened to not make road dates and didn't want to give solid playoff dates things had to be done. I don't know why this is all fishy.

From the league's release...
"One game remains un-played; an April 3, 2010 home game for the Capitanes against the Rochester RazorSharks. The PBL is currently deciding how this game will be dealt with in the final standings."
Odds are that it fill be a forfeit, meaning that for the second straight season, Rochester has not played all of it's schedule.

It will have to be a forfeit, and Rochester coincidentally saves the money for the trip to Puerto Rico. I am the Doc would rather have the $40,000 than a loss to the Captaines.

LightningMan, we really have not heard from you since you contacted the BC owners. I would like to know what you found out. What about the Bus company? Have they been payed. I don't trust the people in the ABA that say the PBL owes money, but I do the Battle Creek people. It's funny, we sometimes put Doctors and Lawyers above other occupations. This is an indicator, you can't do that. You would at least think they would pay there bills. Don't Lawyers take people to court for not paying bills? I feel there are two reason's people don't pay there bills. You don't have the money, or you have the money, and you don't care. When you don't care about your actions, it is a road that will take you no where. PBL brass don't care. Enjoy the last couple of weeks of the PBL. It is too bad thay didnt care. It could have been a good league. Again, what were your findings LightningMan?

And for the record, I'm still piecing things together. I also stopped for the holiday, and this week minor league baseball starts up. Not the only thing on my plate either.

Let me help you Preeths I called them all it is true still owes bus company and will not return any of there phone calls. Still owes Hotels . I would have to say I would believe the owners of Battle Creek about money promise. Because why would any smart man give up all the tickets they had sold and sponsors they had already commited to buying court side table,or would I take $5000.00 . You would have to be a total dumb butt to take that offer. So you can believe what you want but I am going with Battle Creek ownership

BEEEEEP wrong. I called hotel and bus company and arena
1. Hotel bill is owed by wilmington who changed hotels after Battle creek already had paid for one. So NO PBL Bill there
2. Bus company got paid.. $ 8,500, she admitted it right on the phone, she said there is a 1,900 dispute over additional charges.
3. Arena guy couldnt really remember about BC attendance, but said during wilmington playoff game at BC, there was no one there. There were more people at the monster truck show the night before. So if PBL gave then 5,000 or $10,000 thats about $ 9,000 to much. But sonnie20 was at game but he was a comp ticket.
