Hartford team nicknamed Colonials

It's a good name. I would have preferred Knights. I hope they come up with a good logo.

Hartford has a United Football League team, and now that team has a name.

The Hartford Colonials will begin play in September, with five home games at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.

About 6,000 either voted on a name or submitted a name at ctnow.com, with Colonials receiving "a great response," said Anne Valihura, director of marketing for Northland AEG, the team's local owner.

Three entrants who suggested Colonials will be chosen at random to win the ultimate fan experience. They will receive four suite passes, four onfield pregame passes, meet head coach Chris Palmer on the field before the game and receive recognition over the PA system during the game.

Valihura said the team will have a logo shortly. Tickets go on sale in April.

Too bad I never voted for it online. The website never seemed to direct me
to the right place when I went there.

I'm anxious to see what they come up with for a logo. I used the name for
a Statis Pro league many years ago, but never thought of anything for
logos in those days.

Not a bad name, but there are plenty of others out there; especially, with the Pittsfield Colonials being announced in the Can-Am League.

what were the other choices??? I think the jerseys and logos came out sweet. Did you guys go to the first game? If so, how was it? The usual Rentschler Tailgating?
