But, the flipside is it does allow Rochester to complete its schedule, and both teams get a payday from it (something the Montreal players have earned given what they've gone through).

I can just about guarantee it won't be a payday for Montreal... last I checked, the players haven't gotten a dime from the new owner, and he actually borrowed money from at least one of them.
And Montreal is missing more than one game from its schedule, including one against Wilmington which could have had playoffs implications... did Wilmington get a replacement game against some other team?

Given the 2pm time, I'm guessing the rhyme and reason is so they can fly in and out the same day (direct) relatively inexpensively. Renting a gym in Potsdam or somewhere in the North Country (somewhere in the middle) could have worked the same, but it's not always easy if you have no contacts up there. I admire their determination to fill out the schedule, though. At the same time, I hope Rochester rests everyone but their depth players given that they have a game on Thursday that matters, and will be very challenging.

The schedule might say 2pm, but the league referred to it as a "Tuesday night" game in their
article about Montreal's Sunday loss in Halifax.. I guess we'll find out in an hour which part of the website is accurate.
Even if this is about letting Rochester complete their schedule, I really can't see this being anything but a waste of time and money for everyone involved. If it is a midday game, I don't see Montreal bringing a full roster to Chicago. Even if it's an evening game, most of the players have day jobs and won't want to run off to Chicago for yet another unpaid game.
The league isn't so determined to fill up Montreal's schedule... of course the chances of Montreal coming back next year are just about zero, so maybe that doesn't matter except that the league kept saying
all teams would play a full schedule, in which case it matters to the league's integrity just as much as completing Rochester's schedule.
