The IFL has added El Paso, thus excluding San Antonio. I know the IFL is only in Texas, but it is spread out equal to three or four states. Still a lot of travel by bus. 12 hours from Corpus Christi to El Paso or Amarrillo.
Hey, it could be worse. Just be glad that their are not as near as many mountain ranges like the NIFL Pacific West has. With all the mountains that Utah, Wyoming, Billings, and Rapid City has to deal with each year, it can make travel even longer. Those NIFL cities are use to long Division game travel.
san antonio has not dropped out of the ifl. they have simply moved there date back to the 2005 season. they will start in the second season of the intense football league.
From the El Paso Times article announcing the IFL's launch in that city:
"Dittman said most players would not be paid a salary, but would receive appearance fees at the outset of the league."
As I have mentioned elsewhere on these boards, this speaks volumes about the viability and stability of the Intense Football League. No salary for the players. "Appearance fees". Something smells "fishy"... and it's not just the Corpus Christi Hammerheads' mascot.
Enjoy the IFL while you can, folks. I don't envision it being around very long. It would seem that Mr. Dittman's reach exceeds his grasp.

What's the deal with this? Guys got slammed with the APFL when it was learned that the players were not getting paid. Sounds like another semi pro indoor league. Way to go Texas.
Just trying to clarify. What Chad said was taken out of context by the El Paso Times. ALL players will be paid $225 per game along w/ room and board to the players from "out of town.". There will also be incentives for playing well and winning. The "appearance fee" will be paid to the players BEFORE the season starts for appearing at certain league functions and press conferences. They will be paid very well, and TREATED very well by the Intense Football League. So to verify; Chad Dittman HAS done his homework. Chad Dittman WILL excede the the NIFL as well as the APFL. And lastly; Chad Dittman WILL make this league a fan favorite year after year after year after year after year after...
Yea, this is why he originally had his league called the "Indoor Football League" until 4 months later he found out there was another IFL that became the AF2.
OK.. First off... I do agree somewhat with the comment that if he "had done his homework" he would have known the "IFL" existed before.. But then again... The outdoor IFL of the 80's almost existed.. Bottom line... really a non issue...
The IFL that our old buddy Kerry Ecklund owned did not become the AF2.. He got bought out... And the AF2 eliminated the competition.. I look at it this way since only Wichita, Peoria, and for a short while Lincoln survived the "buy out"..
Salaries for the new IFL is an issue... My first gut reaction was the same in reference to the APFL... But to be honest... It is only an issue with me because I want to continue to see links to the IFL on OSC... Links mean easier access to photos> ability to paint the new IFL teams for my electric football > tada..
