PBL and D-League
I truly believe we are now heading toward a two league minorleague system in the U.S.
We will have the D-league and PBL. With the state of the CBA looking gloomier by the week, and with terrible situation with the Allstar game of the ibl, It appears as if these two leagues, ibl, and cba, are fast heading to non existing. And the aba,.....well enuf said.
I know you may not all agree with this, but it looks like the PBL has strengthen itself for certainly to be aroung for a few more years, and of course the NBA will keep supporting the NBDL for a while, and I can't see the other leagues continuing without some major overhaul.
I still am not convinced that the PBL administration really know enough about basketball, and certainly how to really improve itself in that area, but because the other leagues have proven to be inept in making itself grow or be stable, the PBL will win by default.
I think from what I have heard, the Vermont people are real basketball people, so they might want to get involved in the running of this league so we don't have walmart basketball!!

There are a lot of good things about both the CBA and the IBL that I hope that the PBL will incorporate, though I tend to agree with your statements here. Walmart basketball may be the only way the minor leagues survive.

I had a lot of time on my hands the last couple of days at work (I temp. during the off-season), so I looked at where the D-League teams were located. It's clearly an East/West thing with the D-League/PBL. I think this system will work. Perhaps, somewhere down the line the two will merge (too bad the CBA didn't accept the notion).
Personally, I'm concerned about the CBA right now, but I'm sure they will plow through another season. I don't have all the facts, but from what I read (and you can't always believe what you read), it seems as though it's a no-brainer when considering joining the PBL. I had no ideal that travel was split equally in the CBA, and that teams in the East bore the travel burden of the western teams (who were much more spread out than the Eastern teams)...that doesn't seem fair.
I will say that I honestly feel like minor-league basketball is headed in the right direction, though at a snails pace.

The two leagues will never merge. pbl is business 1st basketball 2nd, while the d-league is basketball 1st business 2nd.
Thats the way it is.

Unless you know this for a fact(which I doubt), never say never.
