IBN Sports to Broadcast Southern Illinois Miners Baseball

All 2008 Home Games Viewed Live on iBN Sports Baseball Channel

Foothill Ranch, Calif. – April 7, 2008 – IBN Sports (Interactive Broadcast Network Sports), a premiere Internet-based broadcast sports television network has reached an agreement with the Southern Illinois Miners professional baseball team for Internet rights to broadcast its home games over the iBN Sports Baseball Channel (www.ibnsports.com http://www.ibnsports.com).

The Miners are part of the Frontier League, an Independent Professional Baseball association that began in the summer of 1993. Since that time, the league has matured into twelve teams that hail from Illinois, Michigan, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana, and Missouri. Details are currently being finalized to also cover several Miners’ road games this summer, as well.

The Baseball Channel is one of the sports verticals within the network of iBN Sports that is targeted for growth in 2008. iBN Sports has appointed Ed Hart as Executive Producer to grow the Baseball Channel. Hart has consulted with over 30 major and minor league teams and recently served as the General Manager of the Orange County Flyers Professional baseball team.

“Ed was instrumental in orchestrating this opportunity to partner with the Southern Illinois Miners Baseball franchise,” said John Mudge, COO of iBN Sports. “This past week marked the opening day for all of Major League Baseball, and what a better time to announce this association with this terrific organization,” added Mudge. “There is something about minor league baseball. The athletes are playing at a very high level, where they can be just a call away from the Bigs, and where they are playing first and foremost for the love of the game. Fans of baseball will be the biggest winners as they tune in to see great baseball with the Miners this season,” added Mudge.

“I am really looking forward to making iBN Sports Baseball Channel the #1 choice of baseball fans around the globe for minor league and independent professional baseball. The Miners are a great step in the right direction as we grow the line up and as Producer of the Baseball Channel I couldnąt be more pleased by this partnership with them,” said Hart.

“This partnership will be great for the organization and our fans,” Miners General Manager Tim Arseneau said. “Not only will it be great for Miners fans who can’t make it out to every single game, but the exposure will help our players too.”

Opening Day for the Frontier League is May 18th, with the first Miners home game broadcast on the Baseball Channel scheduled for Saturday May 24th against the Evansville Otters beginning at 7:05 PM Central time.

iBN Sports Baseball Channel anticipates adding several additional teams to its line-up of professional baseball this summer, bringing hundreds of games into the homes of viewers across the world.

Playing a 96-game schedule (51 home and 45 away), the Miners play their home games at Rent One Park in Marion, Illinois. Why do they play more home than away games? Is there a traveling team in the FL this year?

Oh, this is the GBLforum BTW.

Heaversrock, I'm pretty sure that dodgersnusc is Ed. He spoke about getting a position with iBN and probably posted this thinking that, like most minor league fans, we'll enjoy watching MORE baseball.

More baseball is never bad, eh?

Yes. Last year's Slippery Rock Sliders are this year's Midwest Sliders, an all-road team. Next year the franchise will be the Oakland County Cruisers, based in suburban Detroit (Waterford, MI). Ground breaks on their new stadium early this summer.

Default More Baseball

Yes, this is Ed. I am working Full time at USC, but my night and weekend gig is Executive Producer of IBN Sports Baseball Channel. We are excited to be bringing more baseball coverage to the internet. We can sit and watch Indy baseball on line from anywhere.

We are working on signing deals with many more teams for this season, as well.

Thanks!

Ed

Can't disagree with that. This past November, I found myself watching games in Taiwan in the Baseball World Cup because I missed baseball.

Default Stay Tuned...

We are hoping to add about 10 - 15 more teams to the IBN Sports Baseball Channel lineup over the coming weeks. We have been talking with the GBL, and we hope to have something in place with them...

We will have more announcements soon, so I will let you all know...we are going after teams in all Indy leagues, and some affiliated teams, as well.

ALWAYS looking for sponsors, too, so if you know of anyone, have them send me an email to ehart@ibnsports.com.

Thanks!

Ed
