Uh... Utah Royals.

It's kind of funny how many people are, like, "why do you think Royals is a bad name... it fits with Real Salt Lake!" Which kind of forgets how tacky "Real Salt Lake" is.

Moreover, in Utah, a women's pro team attempt again? Utah DOES have a rather well-attended women's sport... U of Utah Gymnastics. WNBA failed. This doesn't look wise... HOWEVER, they hired Laura Harvey as coach and that was about as smart a hire as you'll get with this league.

Whether the Breakers can stay in Boston or the Reign in Seattle... stay tuned.

FC Kansas City's fate was sealed when their former owners went all MagicJack on the players and were forced to sell the team and the new owners couldn't stay in it in the long run and Sporting KC wasn't interested in running the franchise, so RSL stepped in.
It was an unfortunate situation because the team drew above average crowds its first couple of years. It drew OK last year, moving to Swope Park. They dropped to around 1,200 a game this year with all the bad publicity.
I think the league really wanted Sporting to step in, but they just weren't ready yet or just didn't want to. I think that pairing would have made sense. FCKC played a game at SKC's home grounds last year and drew well.
At the same time, SKC is trying to build up the Swope Park grounds (also the home of the USL Swope Park Rangers, SKC's reserve team, and the Big 12 tourney the past couple of years), but it only seats a little over 2,000 and that's with a lot of temporary bleachers.

I remember the old Cincinnati Royals (with the Big O) playing at Cincinnati Gardens, and it wasn't that bad of a name. (They had to change it when they moved to KC-Omaha and the Kings name stuck even after the move to Sacramento).

It could have been worse. They could have been named the FC Deseret Sister-Wives or something equally tasteless.

If they wanted to play up the Real aspect, the could have been the LFC Real Salt Lake Isabellas (a number of Spanish queens were named Isabella).
