Ezra Levine is an investor for The Spring League who acknowledges that while there are some logistics to solidify, believes the league can have staying power.

Were just trying to get the league off the ground and build a product that is sustainable with a model that works for both us as investors, players, GMs, coaches and scouts, Levine said. I think we have a really promising future.

We wanted a venue that was scenic but also drive traffic and people to the game, Levine said. When we did our original concept it was in Sulphur Springs, West Virginia, which is a beautiful place but not a lot of ability for people not from the local area to get there. When you say Napa people think wine, luxury, sun and perfect weather. That was one of the attractions and this is a gorgeous field.

There were about 200 tickets that were sold before the game and a smattering more thereafter. While that might appear to be a sparse crowd for Memorial Stadium, which can house about 10,000 people, Dixon added that the crowd size exceeded his expectations based on the aforementioned game in Sulphur Springs, West Virginia.
And as an investor, this dude was OK with Napa, or was his spouse wanting a wine weekend? Idiots.

It's not a league. They should stop calling it a league.

No matter where you play it, it's not going to draw crowds to pay for itself.

And most football fans don't exactly figure Napa is the place to go.

YES - this is not a league - THANK YOU Sam!!!

At best, this is an academy or a place where on the street free agent football players can gather, workout and scrimmage on the faint hope that someone in the NFL/CFL notices them and makes an offer . . .

You both are correct, but it also is no academy by the standard.

Academy- a place of study or training in a special field:

they are not receiving any training specific to improving, this thing simply is offering a series of exhibition of former players under a game setting.

They bring the same flaws that were exposed before, and simply are now hoping to catch on after being repackaged as having improved, without having to present themselves over a extended time period.
