Default Detroit group wants team in Windsor

Right from the NBL Canada web site.

http://www.windsorstar.com/sports/De...694/story.html

"A Detroit ownership group interested in bringing a National Basketball League of Canada franchise to Windsor is so deeply undercover that many high profile figures in the local round ball community havenít heard anything about them."

Would it be better to go further North to Sarnia? And have the team play at the RBC in Sarnia.

I'd LOVE to see an NBL Canada team in Windsor! A big reason for the Lightning's incredible success (and NBL Championship) was Coach Richardson being able to recruit several of his former Cavalry players-IMHO, he was able to do that because London's the closest team to the USA. Should Windsor join, they would actually pass London.

Besides, the Knights and Spitfires have a HUGE rivalry in the OHL...imagine what a Lightning-Windsor rivalry would look like!

Hmmmm I dunno about this...You would have to think that there would be far more value to the NBL to put expansion teams in Ottawa and Kingston. Windsor seems like a needless risk given that there are so many lifelong Piston/NBA fans there, and the current economic situation in the Windsor area. I'm all for expansion whereever expansion works...and I think they need to focus on Ottawa and Kingston first.
