We should know the answers by September/October.
Back to a failing league that probably won't be around next year?

Plans for the Southern Division of the NAL were released a while ago. Plans for the 2012 Northern Apocalypse may never be released at the rate they are going ... maybe the NAL will collapse back down to the Southern Division only, i.e. the old United League.

That's definitely not how it works. No city has had a lower level team in order to move up. There are territories and ballpark requirements. Telus Field was AAA not too long ago and though I have never been there, I can't imagine they need too many upgrades to meet current standards.

Tucson is kind of a nomad team at the moment so it may be an opportunity. Or Vegas which has been mentioned. If Ottawa is going to be an AA team then it sets up perfectly for the Jays to have their AAA in Canada too.

Besides that their only other true option is the AA but that bridge may be burned from the last time.
**So, Round Rock didn't have a AA team, then go AAA? It happens sometimes.

But that wasn't a requirement. That was a team shift because they could get a ballpark built for the other team. If there was no other ballpark then it might not have even happened.

Agreed. The Northern Division is kaput for 2012 - sad for all the baseball fans in those cities.

Still amazing that they've survived this long... bus-league attendance with an air travel footprint. What's happening right now with the Southern Division is exactly what the league should have been all along.

Default United League

Just noticed an entry under the transaction wire for San Angelo. They were listed as belonging to the United League. Maybe the NAL has broken up.

Default My .02 cents worth

After getting several calls and making several calls, here is the info:

The NAL has asked the Diamondbacks and Pecos League to do bus teams to go with San Rafeal and Yuma.

That's all I know at this point but will tell all I know if and when I hear anything else.
